(Clearwisdom.net) New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts continued to delight audiences at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, The Music Center in Los Angeles on February 13 and 14, 2010.
Mr. and Mrs. Rustam at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, The Music Center
Mr. Rustam, editor-in-chief and publisher of one of the oldest newspapers in the San Fernando Valley, attended the sold-out show with his wife, who is also a newspaper publisher.
Having seen Shen Yun before, the couple knew that they were in for another unforgettable sensory experience. "I love it. It's like a dream. Really, it's a beautiful dream. We both love it very much," said Mr. Rustam.
"The acts are beautiful. The dancing and the scenery--it's all put together very, very, nicely--excellent. Between 1 and 10, it's a 10. It's excellent and top notch. It's very well done. I loved it," he said.
Mr. Rustam likened the show to a "dream world" and recommended that everyone see it. "It just takes me away like I'm in a dream world. It takes us on a big ride--you are flying over this beautiful scenery. There's nothing like it. I think everyone should see it. It gets you away from your daily troubles," he said.
Multimedia artist: "It's put together well, really, really excellent!"

Also present at the show was Ms. Soliday, a multimedia artist and sculptor, who excitedly described her Shen Yun experience, saying, "It was beautiful. Beautiful colors, beautiful costume, beautiful music. Everything was great.
"As an artist I can't say anything negative about the show, because it's beautiful. It's put together well, really, really excellent!"
Although Ms. Soliday thought the show was a must-see for everyone, she named a few groups who she especially thought would enjoy Shen Yun. "It's definitely a must if you are of Asian descent. It's definitely also a must if you are an artist, and definitely a must if you enjoy learning about different cultures and heritage," she said.
Theater Producer Celebrates Mother's Birthday with Shen Yun
Mr. Mitchell, a theatre producer and director, took his mother, an English teacher, to see the Shen Yun performance on her birthday.
Describing the show from his professional vantage point, he said, "Oh, I loved it. I thought it was really terrific. I think it's bringing something to L.A. culture that they probably would not see otherwise. I thought it was terrific!
He continued, "I can't even conceive how many hours of rehearsal went into this, really. Just in watching the dance and choreography, it's got to be months and months of rehearsing. It's a great production and the production values are extraordinary."
Noting the lavishness of each performance, Mr. Mitchell commented, "This show probably has a $7 or $8 million budget. It's got to be. You couldn't do it for less than that with the effects and all these dancers. It's a very expensive show to produce. Absolutely, absolutely. It's terrific."
Describing the choreography he said, "When you watch choreography, you look for the big picture; and this company has put something together where you're actually watching individual dancers, and you really become part of the moment. For me you really become part of it, you're not just an observer, and that's what really got me about it."
Commenting on the overall message of the show, Mr. Mitchell said, "The message really is timeless."
Mrs. Mitchell talked a little about her experience with Shen Yun saying, "It was entertaining. Beautiful--the colors--everything [was] beautiful. The women were magnificent, and there was a big story to it; that means a lot."
Touching upon the situation of human rights in contemporary China, Mrs. Mitchell said, "I like what the performers are trying to say. We can do what we want [in the USA]. It would be nice to see that come to China someday."
