(Clearwisdom.net) ROCHESTER, New York--Dr. Adam Urbanski,
the president of the Rochester Teachers Association, praised Shen
Yun Performing Arts for its educational value and portrayal of
Chinese culture after watching the dance company perform at the
Rochester Auditorium Theatre on Sunday afternoon, February 28.
"This is what we are trying to teach our students at school," he
said.
Dr. Urbanski is a former high school teacher and college professor
and has also been involved in a number of other organizations as an
executive member, including the American Federation of
Teachers.
Shen Yun's presentation of classical Chinese performing arts and
millennia-old, rich history and culture of China impressed the
educator.
"We like the show very much, because we are learning about a
culture that we don't know very much about," Dr. Urbanski said.
He said that he would recommend the show to his friends because
"it's a beautiful show with beautiful dancing and music, and a lot
of information about the culture of the largest country in the
world."
Museum President Says Shen Yun "Demonstrates cultural
exchange"
After watching the performance, Mr. Rollie Adams, president and
CEO of the Strong National Museum of Play, said the show is very
enjoyable.
"It's a wonderful show; it demonstrates cultural exchange and the
wonderful arts of China."
The Strong National Museum of Play displays the history of play in
the U.S. The museum features many exciting and unique exhibits and
caters to people of all ages.
After watching the show, Mr. Adams said he received a message of
"joy, sharing, [and] caring."
The dance Nothing Can Block the Divine Path, set in contemporary
China, was particularly moving for Mr. Adams.
This scene shows the persecution of a family in China at the hands
of the Communist regime for practicing the peaceful spiritual
practice Falun Gong.
"[It] was just quite touching," he said.
