(Clearwisdom.net) On May 8, 2010, Falun Gong practitioners participated in a community event held in Willow Park by an environmental group. They introduced the practice that is based on Truth-Compassion-Forbearance to the community and celebrated the 11th World Falun Dafa Day. About 1100 people attended the event.
During the event, practitioners explained what Falun Dafa was to passersby. Falun Dafa is an ancient Chinese practice based on the Buddha School. The practice was first introduced to the public in May 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi. Millions have gained mental and physical health because of their elevated moral standards. On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party started the persecution of Falun Gong. Practitioners are still holding activities to protest he persecution and calling for it to stop. Though it is outlawed in China, Falun Gong is welcomed by people in over 100 countries, and the teachings have been translated into over 30 languages. May 13, the birthday of Mr. Li Hongzhi, was designated World Falun Dafa Day to celebrate the practice.
In the park, many people listened carefully to the details of the persecution and said that it was hard for them to believe such things were still happening in the world.
