(Clearwisdom.net) Under orders from the 610 Office, organizations under the control of the Chinese Communist Party in the Yanbian area of Jilin Province escalated the persecution of local practitioners. Party members took Li Longji into custody because he persisted in his belief in Falun Gong. He has been detained for almost eight months. The Yanji City Court dismissed a human rights lawyer that Mr. Li had hired. Court officials lied to the lawyer, saying that Mr. Li had decided to hire someone else.
Li Longji is thirty-four years old, and is of Korean ethnicity. On September 17, 2009, he was arrested by police officers of the Yanji City National Security Division. He has been subjected to torture and interrogations, and he is currently being detained at the Yanji Detention Center.
After the persecution of Mr. Li was exposed, the local Procuratorate office immediately sent his case back to the National Security Division due to lack of evidence, and promised to release him. After hearing the news, his sister, who was working in Korea, returned home to Yanji and attempted to bring Mr. Li to Korea. However, she was unsuccessful, and her own passport was confiscated. The perpetrators of the Mr. Li's persecution interrogated her, demanding to know who had hired the human rights lawyer. They also attempted to harm the lawyer.
