Yang Liang was arrested at home by police from Meilongzhen Police Station in Minhang District, Shanghai City at 5:30 p.m. on April 14, 2010. Two other Falun Gong practitioners living in Shanghai, Zhang Yuerong and Lu Xiuying, together with Yang Liang's boyfriend Pang Shengchao (a non-practitioner) were arrested the same night. Yang Liang, Zhang Yuerong, Lu Xiuying and Pang Shengchao have now been detained in Xuhui District Detention Center in Shanghai for over a month.
Yang Liang's father went to Shanghai from faraway Jinzhou and requested to see his daughter, but was turned away by police at Meilongzhen Police Station. Yang Liang's home in Shanghai was sealed up. Police refused to let her family members sort Yang Liang's clothes and wouldn't refund the rent. Her father went back to Jinzhou in tears.
The CCP in Shanghai have arrested Falun Gong practitioners under the pretense of security for the 2010 World Expo. This is a new turn of persecution after the Beijing Olympic Games. From 2009 to April 20, 2010, according to incomplete statistics, about 124 Falun Gong practitioners in 92 cases were sentenced and sent to forced labor camps or brainwashing centers. Some families were comprised of all Falun Gong practitioners and they were all arrested.
