(Clearwisdom.net) Seventy-year-old Ms. Li Yunhai from Penglai City, Shandong Province was arrested and sent to a brainwashing center around April 23, 2010, and then tried behind closed doors. She received a five-year prison sentence from the Penglai Court on April 28. She suffered from high blood pressure and was sent to Hospital No. 405 for treatment that evening. While hospitalized, she was placed under the surveillance of police officers as well as teachers from her former workplace. She was handcuffed and shackled during her hospital stay.
Ms. Li Yunhai was working at the Penglai City No. 2 Experimental School. She was repeatedly arrested for continuing to clarify facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. On the morning of May 29, 2008, eleven officers forced their way into Ms. Li's home and confiscated computers and other personal property from the family before taking Ms. Li to a brainwashing center.
In August 2009, when Ms. Li Yunhai and her husband were distributing truth-clarification materials, they were arrested and detained at a police station. Meanwhile, Qu Yitao, head of the National Security Division, sent officers to ransack their home. Qu Yitao attempted to incarcerate Ms. Li in the detention center, but she failed the health examination, and the detention center refused to accept her. Qu Yitao thus extorted 10,000 yuan from Ms. Li's daughter before releasing Ms. Li.
In late November 2009, Ms. Li went to the National Security Division to explain the truth behind the persecution of Falun Gong to Qu Yitao, and asked him not to get involved in persecuting kind-hearted people. As a result, she was further persecuted. On December 1, Ms. Li received a notice of intended prosecution. She had no choice but to leave home to avoid being arrested.
Penglai City police officers used various methods including telephone interception and surveillance to track down Ms. Li and arrest her. The depraved authorities hastily sentenced her to five years in jail.
