On May 25, 2010, after being detained for eight months, practitioner Ms. Zhai Linya, was illegally tried by the Boye County Court.
Ms. Zhai Linya, 65 years old, from Beizhu Village, Boye County gained great benefits both mentally and physically after she began to practice Falun Dafa in 1998. She went to Beijing to appeal for the end of the persecution of Falun Gong in 2001. She was arrested and picked up by the Boye County police, detained, and to avoid further persecution she was forced to stay away from her home for four years.
On September 23, 2009, Ms. Zhai and her husband, Hao Shunyou, went to the Boye County Hospital to visit their nephew's wife who was having a baby. At 9 p.m., when Hao Shunyou went home he saw a man in a white shirt standing by the door but he didn't pay any attention. After 10 p.m., Ms. Zhai, her brother's wife and her aunt came home together. After they got home, Ms. Zhai was arrested by several policemen. In the meantime, Hao Shunyou had also been arrested. He asked to see his wife but was not allowed to.
After they took Ms. Zhai to the Boye County Police Station, the police went back to ransack the couple's home. They confiscated one printer, one laptop computer, one laminating machine, one paper cutter and several Dafa books. Later, Ms. Zhai was sent to the Li County detention center.
On October 30, 2009, the Boye County Procuratorate approved the arrest of Ms. Zhai. On the morning of May 25, 2010, the Boye County Court put Ms. Zhai on trial.
At 9:40 a.m., Ms. Zhai was taken to the Boye County Court by police car. Ms. Zhai's family, relatives and friends had been waiting for a long time in front of the court. They followed the police car trying to see her because they hadn't seen her for eight months. The guard in the court shouted "Everyone get out!" and after forcing all the people out, closed the door. At 10 a.m., the court guard called in her husband, two daughters, daughter in-law and two brothers, a total of six people. Her two nephews were refused entry.
According to information received, in the court the public prosecutor showed a copy of a so-called written record. But Ms. Zhai denied the validity of this document because there were two types of handwriting on the record, and neither was readable. The lawyer requested verification. The public prosecutor was very angry when he heard the request, and the presiding judge quickly announced the postponement of the trial.
