(Clearwisdom.net) Stories about life and death never fail to fascinate mankind. People are awed when life is regained or renewed and shocked by abnormal death. But the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) tries to turn such instinctive human reactions to its advantage while going all out to cover up the truth behind them.
The following two examples are evidence of the CCP's twisted logic and propaganda.
The first is the so-called "self-immolation incident" on Tiananmen Square in early 2001. In truth, the event was an elaborately staged propaganda stunt, strictly choreographed and caught on videotape. Several people who were made to look like Falun Gong practitioners made some wild statements and then set themselves on fire in broad daylight on Tiananmen Square, directly in front of the TV cameras that just so happened to conveniently be in place. People seeing the video on China's state-run Central Chinese Television (CCTV) were shocked beyond belief, as anyone would be. As the CCP anticipated, the stunt and its many deceptions, repeated over and over and over again in China's state-run TV, radio, and print media, succeeded in stirring up mass fear and turning Chinese public opinion against Falun Gong in a big way.
Experts outside of China carefully examined the self-immolation footage and discovered numerous loopholes. (See http://clearwisdom.net/html/cate-213/ for details) A slow motion analysis of the videotape revealed that a policeman seems to have delivered the killing blow, striking Ms. Liu Chunling (one of the victims) on the head with a blunt object. Once this damning analysis was publicized, the subject video footage was edited and the raw footage never seen again on state-run TV in China.
About a year later, in order to help the Chinese people understand what actually happened, a few Falun Gong practitioners tapped into the state-run Changchun City Cable TV Network at 8 p.m. on March 5, 2002. They were able to broadcast Falun Gong truth clarification videos, including "Falun Dafa Around the World," and "Self-immolation or Staged Act?" The broadcast lasted about fifty minutes on the networks' eight channels that had 300,000 subscribers and more than one million viewers. The incident created public shockwaves; many people learned the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, including about the so-called Tiananmen self-immolation.
Knowing that people would no longer be afraid of Falun Gong after learning the truth, the communist regime was stricken with panic. Party leader Jiang Zemin issued a covert order, to "kill [those responsible for the incident] without pardon." Soon, local police arrested more than 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun City. During the wave of arrests, at least seven practitioners were beaten to death. Fifteen were sentenced to between four and twenty years in prison. Zhou Runjun received a 20-year sentence, while Liang Zhenxing and Liu Chengjun were sentenced to 19 years each. Liang and Liu later died in custody as a result of the torture they were subjected to.
Another example of the CCP's twisted logic and values concerns the intimidation of a 16-year-old student named Qu Jianguo. Qu regained good health after practicing Falun Gong. The young student, living in Laishui County, Hebei Province, was so grateful that Falun Gong had cured his bone cancer that he published an article on the Minghui website to show his appreciation. Local 610 Office agents and police department officials responded to this heartwarming story with harassments and arrests. They went all out to pressure Qu Jianguo, his school and family, to deny the miraculous effect Falun Gong had on his cancer. (For details of the plight Qu Jianguo and his family experienced, see http://clearwisdom.net/html/articles/2010/5/26/117396.html)
The CCP followed up with mass arrests of local practitioners on June 12, 2010, seizing more than 30 people in one day. Some of them have already been sent to forced labor camps.
What kind of government is afraid of the truth, and rules through lies and deceit? What crimes are they trying to cover up?
