(Clearwisdom.net) Teacher spoke about how Han Xin endured the humiliation of crawling between someone's legs in Zhuan Falun (Han Xin was threatened by a local bully and crawled between his legs, something considered shameful, rather than fight him). In the past I understood this to mean that a cultivator must endure what everyday people can't endure, but I never linked it to the issue of safety. When my righteous thoughts and righteous actions in validating the Fa and clarifying the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong met with challenges, sometimes I would more or less show some "dauntless heroism." I thought that was actually letting go of life and death, and that this was true "righteous thoughts." As a result I experienced quite a few lessons which really should not have happened. So I was confused. I had already let go of life and death, so why did I still suffer lessons like that?
After watching "The Great Han Xin" by the Shen Yun Performing Arts, I suddenly came to a new understanding of the Fa about why Han Xin endured the humiliation. Han Xin's story told us that people with great aspirations shouldn't display temporary bravery. Their great endurance expressed in upholding the truth of the cosmos should be peaceful and rational. My kind of "dauntless heroism" mentioned above was more provocative in nature and was more like "individual heroism."
This is my personal understanding for your reference only.
