(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun Performing Arts wowed audiences for two shows at the Sacramento Community Center Theater, in Sacramento, California, on July 17 and 18, 2010.
Retired Vice Admiral Cecil Kempf and his wife Theodosia were in the audience.
Among the many VIPs attending the show was Cecil Kempf, a retired naval officer, accompanied by his wife Theodosia.
Vice Admiral Kempf said, "Oh, I don't enjoy these kind of things generally, but I love this!"
Mrs. Kempf agreed, saying, "It was most unique, I think, and I predict that it will grow in popularity, now only four years old. I loved hearing that two-stringed instrument [erhu]."
"I'd like to tell people about that it's beautiful. I've always loved the sound of the erhu," she said, and the Vice Admiral agreed, "Oh yes, that was beautiful."
The couple were intrigued by the digital backdrop, with Vice Admiral Kempf, saying, "The sets were just absolutely gorgeous."
He particularly liked how well the dancers and the digital backdrop worked together to make it appear as if the dancers came out of the backdrop.
Mrs. Kempf thought the handcrafted costumes were "incredibly beautiful."
The vice admiral was impressed by the synchronization between the dancers and the number of dancers performing, saying, "They've really done a good job."
Mrs. Kempf added, "What precision! It must take a lot of dedication for the dancers to be so equally skilled."
Mrs. Kempf was happy to see that Shen Yun is reviving the true, artistic tradition of China and Chinese culture after much of it was destroyed by the communist regime during the Cultural Revolution. She said, "I think it's so important to save the history of China and all the beauty which was lost for a while."
She added, "Well I think from what they said, that you wouldn't even see this show in China. They have managed to put this together here."
Former Professional Dancer: Shen Yun "Very Inspiring"
Debra Fuller, a former professional dancer, was among the many attendees at the Thursday night performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts.
Former professional dancer Debra Fuller thought the show was "fabulous," adding, "I'd recommend it to anyone."
"I'm so happy that a new performing arts company... such as Shen Yun--four years new--is here in San Diego," she said. "Seeing all the ballets and operas of my time, this is phenomenal."
"The colors, the costuming, the dancers, their coordination, their love for what they do, it comes out in the show," she said. "It's fabulous."
"The feelings I felt were serene--the orchestra was fabulous. It has such incredible music that I've never heard before. Chinese music played by a professional orchestra is quite moving.
"We're finally getting to see a part of Chinese culture that has never been readily available to us before," she said. "So seeing Chinese culture in such a beautiful way is very inspiring."
Ms. Fuller said that the two dance sets portraying the ongoing human rights violations against Falun Gong practitioners in China, were "an important part of the show because my husband and I are very concerned about the rights of the people in China."
She found the spiritual part of the show very uplifting. After seeing the show, old interest of hers began to surface.
"In fact I was sitting in there thinking, if I had more years, I'd go back and study theology of all the different religions.
"Wonderful! The Whole Performance Was Absolutely Wonderful"
Jim Loffman and his wife Debbie.
Sacramento's longest standing weather-caster, Jim Loffman attended the show with his wife, Debbie.
"We loved it. We love the dancing, we love the colors, we love the music--everything," said Mrs. Loffman.
"I was very impressed. I thought it was magnificent," he enthused. "I was particularly impressed with the skill of the dancers. The skill and the incredible flexibility and the perfection of it--it was smooth and beautiful. I have never seen anything like it before, so I was very impressed."
Debbie's friend purchased Shen Yun tickets for the couple, knowing that they had never seen it before. She was very sure that the Loffmans would "love it," to which Debbie replied, "and we did!"
Debbie thoroughly enjoyed the dancers and commented on how fit and beautiful they are.
Tom thought the entire performance was absolutely wonderful, but was especially fond of the dance set, "The Tang Court Drummers."
"... these dancers were extraordinary. And I like the drumming. I thought the orchestra was fantastic. Wonderful, the whole performance was absolutely wonderful," concluded Tom.
