(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Li Weiguo and his wife, Ms. Zhao Fengyun in Harbin City were brutally persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for persisting in practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Zhao Fengyun died in a forced labor camp in 2004. Mr. Li Weiguo was arrested again in July.
Just before 7 p.m. on July 9, 2010, several officers from the Zhenjiang Police Station in the Daowai District, Harbin and the Daowai Police Department National Security Team arrived at Mr. Li's temporary residence. They broke into his home and arrested him along with practitioner Mr. Zhang Zhi. They also confiscated several thousand yuan, a computer, printer, other materials, many personal belongings and ID cards.
Mr. Li Weiguo has been illegally detained at the Daowai District Number Two Detention Center for over twenty days. Mr. Zhang Zhi is still being held at the Daowai District Number One Detention Center in Yaziquan. Mr. Li was illegally interrogated around July 21. It is not clear whether he was tortured, because his family was not allowed to visit him.
Mr. Li Weiguo is an employee of Harbin City Tractor A Spare Parts Plan. He started practicing Falun Gong before July 20, 1999 when the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong.
Mr. Li was imprisoned in the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp several times during the eleven years of persecution, and endured many inhumane tortures. He was forced to perform over 16 hours of labor daily, then beaten and verbally abused when he could not complete the work. The living conditions were terrible. Every person had less than a 30 cm (1 foot) wide sleeping area. The cell was very dark and humid. People had to sleep on their sides, right up against another person. Many people passed contagious skin diseases to each other. Mr. Li developed a severe case of scabies and now his leg has large areas of bare flesh.
Mr. Li's wife, Ms. Zhao Fengyun was imprisoned at the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp in Harbin. She was also forced to perform over 16 hours of labor daily. The guards made her work with a toxic glue. In 2004, Ms. Zhao was severely poisoned by the toxic materials. Because she was not treated immediately, she died in the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp.
Their son Li Jia was only 14 when his mother died. His father is still being imprisoned at the forced labor camp, and the young man is living a lonely, difficult life.
