(Clearwisdom.net) It has been 12 years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong. On August 30, the WikiLeaks website released a cable from the U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu, Sichuan, confirming that local officials are tired of persecuting Falun Gong and that Falun Gong adherents continue to use various methods on a wide-scale to tell people about the persecution.
According to an report on Epochtimes.com, excerpts from the August 17, 2009 cable contained the following information:
A Sichuan local government official recently told an officer at the U.S. Consulate General that the central government had issued a warning for all levels of government to be on high alert in the run-up to the tenth anniversary of the CCP's banning of Falun Gong. The document declaring the warning ordered intensification of the nationwide persecution of Falun Gong. As usual, the official said, the central government-issued document was sent to the provinces, which then issued their own versions—after editing to suit the local situation—instructing prefectures and major cities. The document was then sent to the counties, which issued the warning to the townships.
The local government official said in exasperation, "Local governments at the township level issue perhaps 200 of these orders every year! It is all a formality and a big waste of time!"
Although suppressed, the Falun Gong still make their voices heard. Three times in the last two years in Chengdu, the Consulate General officer has received banknotes with handwritten messages on them that say, "Falun Dafa is Good!" and a stamped "Resign from the Communist Party! Read the Nine Commentaries (Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party)." In January, a local government official in an ethnic Miao county in Guizhou Province told a U.S. Consular official that part of his job was to track the number of paper bills that have Falun Gong messages on them.
The U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu regularly receives fax messages from Falun Gong practitioners, so they think that the adherents are probably faxing information throughout China. The Consular officer has also received phone calls at his local Chengdu phone number that use a messaging and polling system to leave anti-communist messages, and then instruct, "Press seven to resign from the Communist Party or eight to resign from the Communist Youth League."
Many Chinese use the Falun Gong-supported Freegate proxy server software to circumvent the CCP-imposed Great Red Firewall.
