(Clearwisdom.net) Several relatives visited our home on June 3, so I decided to cook a fish dish for them. I went to the local fish market and picked out three mullets and paid the vendor 26 yuan.
When I got back home, I went to the kitchen and started to prepare the fish. To my surprise, the mullet I purchased was actually perch! I didn't know what happened.
Perch is much more expensive than mullet. I occasionally eat fish, but I never buy perch. Now I got this most desirable fish, without having to pay for it. I was not happy, but one of my relatives was very pleased. He said, “We are going to enjoy whatever you cook and we didn't do anything wrong.”
As a Dafa practitioner, I knew I could not take advantage of the situation. So I headed back to the fish market. After I paid the vendor the difference of 45 yuan, he was very impressed. I told him that we cultivators believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and that what I did was the right thing to do.
I told the vendor that it was not easy for him to run a business like his, rain or shine. Some people around us overheard our conversation and were amazed that I did this. When I returned home, about 30 minutes later, I felt much lighter in my heart and happier.
After thinking about this incident, I shared it with my fellow practitioners. I thought that I had done the right thing, and I feel that my heart and soul were improved through the process. After studying the Fa, I had better understandings of this situation.
