(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Weiling has been held at the Changning Detention Center for three months. Her mother recently asked for her release but was rejected twice.
On October 12, 2011, Ms. Li' mother went to the detention center to request a release. That day happened to be visiting day for inmates' families to visit and bring cash or other personal items. When she saw someone waiting in line, she also waited there. When it was her turn, the guards recognized her from when she was held at the Changning Detention Center for nine months beginning March 30, 2004, and told her, “You directly came in without receiving any notice. It is not allowed next time.” Her mother said that she wanted to meet with the director. The guard called the director and checked with her. The guard told Ms. Li's mother, “She agreed. Let the security staff bring you in.”
When Ms. Li's mother entered and met director Xiao, whose given name is unknown, and who is in charge of the women’s detention center (the director of the Changning District Detention Center is Wang Linrong) she requested to see her daughter, which was rejected. The director answered that families weren't allowed to visit the inmates before they were tried, while she pointed to the rule on the wall. Her mother said, “There is no rule at all as this is an illegal detention. There is no law when Falun Dafa practitioners are held.” The director said, “You can appeal for a higher court after you get the verdict.” When she was asked for Ms. Li's status, the director said that Ms. Li has high blood pressure.
On October 17, 2011, her mother again went to the Changning District Detention Center. She wanted to speak with the director about Falun Gong and she knew that the trial had been postponed until October 24, 2011. When she got there, a guard talked to her, “Why did you come again?” She said, “I want to see my daughter.” The answer was the same, “Impossible.” She said, “Her father died a hundred days ago, and I want to pick her up to have a last look.” The guard said, “That's impossible. This kind of thing has never happened before.” She said to those people, including a guard and three security staff members, “It's been so many years, and you still don't know that it's a crime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. There is nothing wrong with Falun Gong.” A security staff member immediately stopped her, “Do you not know what this is? How dare you...” She said, “When you take off your uniform, you are the same as us.” Before she left, she told them, “I hope you will remember that 'Falun Dafa is good,' which will save your life.” The guard's ID number was 02419.
Ms. Li Weiling, 53, lives at Changning Sub Road, Changning District, Shanghai. After the persecution began in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was taken to a mental hospital by local police officers, where she was forcibly injected with a drug that was toxic to the central nervous system. In 2000, she went to Beijing again and was taken back to Shanghai. She was then held at the Changning District Detention Center. During that time, she went on a hunger strike and was force-fed by guards. Several guards came to her at the same time and restricted her hands and handcuffed her, while others sat on her stomach and brutally put a tube into her body. As a result, her esophagus was ruptured and the blood profusely gushed out. When she was back home, she had to leave because local police officers frequently came to her home to harass her. She was later arrested by local 610 Officer agents, when she was in Shandong Province speaking with people about Falun Gong, and taken back to Shanghai. She was later sentenced to eight years in prison. In 2001, she was taken to the Shanghai Women’s Prison.
It had been only two years since she was released from prison. On March 19, 2011, officers from the Changning District 610 Office arrested her when she went out. That night, they took her key from her and went to her home to ransack it. At that time, her daughter had just returned home from work. The police officers took away many of her personal belongings.
Her elderly father became very scared after witnessing their home being ransacked many times. He developed severe heart failure and complications of diabetes. He became bedridden and was frequently sent to hospitals for emergency treatment. Each time he got notice from Neighborhood Administration Officers that a “close watch” had started, his disease would reoccur.
