(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Haitao, 37, a resident of Gongzhufen in the Haidian District, was once again arrested on the evening of February 27, 2011, and later sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. His condition is worrying.
On the evening of February 27, 2011, Mr. Li Haitao received a phone call from a person in Tong County whom Mr. Li knew while he was imprisoned. The man asked Mr. Li to bring him a truth clarification CD and other informational materials. Mr. Li took a subway to Tong County, but was arrested at the Tong County Subway Station exit by police who were staked out there. Mr. Li was taken to the Tong County Detention Center. His home was at the same time ransacked, and his computer and Falun Gong materials were confiscated.
Mr. Li's family learned about his detention several days later after they inquired at the local police station. Mr. Li was detained for one month before he was sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor. He is currently in the Xinji Forced Labor Camp in Daxing, Beijing. The authorities have only allowed his immediate family to visit him, once each month, and each time for only 20 minutes. During their November visit, Mr. Li's relatives saw that he was emaciated due to physical abuse and mistreatment, and he was upset. Mr. Li's family has requested medical parole many times, but it has not been approved. His life may be in danger.
Mr. Li was previously arrested on the evening of August 26, 2006, as he was posting truth clarification materials on the street. Police from Beijing West Railway Station made the arrest and took him to the Dongcheng District Detention Center. The police ransacked Mr. Li's home and confiscated his computers and Falun Gong informational materials. He was later sentenced to three years in prison, where he was subjected to physical abuse and torture. He was released on August 25, 2009.
