(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhu Rongzhen was sentenced to three years in prison simply because she refused to write a guarantee statement claiming that she would give up practicing Falun Gong.
After Ms. Zhu was illegally detained in a detention center, she was hospitalized in the Yunnan General Prison Hospital because she suffered from hypertension. On December 23, 2010, a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) court tried her briefly in the hospital. The judge said, “If you write a guarantee letter giving up practicing Falun Gong, I can release you on probation. If you continue practicing Falun Gong, I will sentence you to three years in prison.” At that time, Ms. Zhu's 80-year-old father was sick and needed Mr. Zhu to take care of him. Despite the unreasonable threat, Ms. Zhu said she would firmly practice Falun Gong. The court then sentenced her to three years in prison.
Ms. Zhu is from Shanghai. Both her husband and she are Falun Gong practitioners in Kunming, Yunnan Province. On January 24, 2010, she was reported to the police and arrested while distributing Falun Gong DVDs in Chenggong. The detention center refused to accept her because she had hypertension. She was released on bail, awaiting trial. In July 2010, the couple sued the Chenggong Police Department for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. The Chenggong government gave an order to arrest them. On September 27, 2010, the police deceived Ms. Zhu into taking a physical exam and arrested her. On September 28, 2010, the police searched her home. The court secretly tried Ms. Zhu without informing her family.
