(Clearwisdom.net) I have not had much contact with a certain fellow practitioner. But each time I see her, I can sense that she is very happy. Her family's financial situation is not good when compared to other fellow practitioners' families, but she always seems very happy. Why? In her own words, there is nothing to worry about. To practice Falun Gong is to let go of attachments, which is simply a blessing!
I also have similar feelings. I once was attached to the persecution by the evil forces. I was very depressed when I worked at my previous workplace. Sometimes I felt that I did not want to suffer any more. As a result, even though I was making a fairly good salary, I left that job. I told them that my reason for leaving was to pursue my academic studies. During my cultivation ups and downs, the less attached I am, the more blessings I feel. Although I have graduated now, I am presently still not sure about my next job, and there are different pressures as well, but I always feel blessings. I will do whatever I feel I need to do and I know that there is nothing to worry about.
It is a blessing to let go of attachments regarding this life, knowing that we will have a great future. Sometimes, I feel sympathy for those fellow practitioners who are still “on” and “off” with their cultivation and suffer because they are attached to ordinary people's fame, profit and sentimentality, or because of their attachment to the evil persecution. Because I was once there myself, I know how they feel. I worried and felt terrible because I could not let go of attachments. But because the time is limited for Fa-rectification, the opportunities are rare to step out of our attachments and sadness. If we do not cultivate diligently, there will be no time for regrets.
I recently contacted a fellow practitioner who had given up cultivation practice because of the persecution. Her family is relatively well off, especially for a rural area, and she gets about a 2,000- yuan pension each month. Her husband takes very good care of her. Her two sons work in big cities and both earn high salaries. Previously, she went to the city to take care of her daughter-in-law who had had a baby. But because of conflicts with her son and daughter-in-law, she always sighed and complained. She recently got angry and wanted her son and daughter-in-law to move out of the house she had bought them. She cried when she talked about her attachments. Even though she seems to have a very good family, she was so unhappy because of her attachments. When compared with practitioners who don't seem successful or financially well off, but who are happy nonetheless, the difference is obvious. Finally, this couple decided to return to the path of cultivation.
When we are attached to fame, profit and sentimentality, it is exciting when our goals are fulfilled. That is the kind of happy feeling that ordinary people pursue. But it is only temporary. Later, what awaits him is a long period of suffering. Ordinary people say that almost ninety percent of their feelings are unsatisfied. Conversely, the happiness we feel when we cultivate in Dafa and let go of attachments is peace – pure and long lasting. This is the happiness of a practitioner, for the present, not to mention the beauty and happiness of the future. I feel sad when I see fellow practitioners who are afraid of the persecution of the Chinese Communist Party and give up cultivation. They cannot cultivate diligently because of their attachments to earning money, or else they are held back by other forms of sentimentality. I sincerely hope that these practitioners think it over calmly so they don't miss the chance that only comes in thousands or millions of years. I urge them to wisely balance loss and gain. It is necessary for fellow practitioners who have let go of attachments to show those practitioners who lag behind that it is a blessing to let go of attachments and return to the path of cultivation – a truly happy path.
