(Clearwisdom.net) Agents from Putuo District 610 Office in Shanghai arrested 63-year-old practitioner Ms. Liu Wenjuan in 2009. They illegally sentenced her to a four-year prison term and detained her in Shanghai Women’s Prison. She was put in the intensified unit from February to June 2011. As a result she became extremely weak and fell while taking a shower, fracturing her thigh bone.
Ms. Zhang’s family was finally able to see her when she was taken to the Nanhui Prison Hospital on June 17, 2011. She was lying in bed, unable to move. She was very thin, her hair was gray, and she was in extremely poor health. When her family asked what had happened, Ms. Li said she had been put in an intensified unit for four months. Ji Hong (Division 1 head) and Feng Ke said Ms. Li fell while taking a shower. Her thigh bone was injured and she was sent to the prison hospital.
An X-ray showed her thigh bone was fractured and the doctor proposed three options: conservative therapy, internal fixation, and femoral head replacement. All these options could cause paralysis in her lower body, and none of these surgeries could be performed in the prison hospital.
In June 2009, when Ms. Li went to visit a nearby fellow practitioner, she was arrested and detained. Her home was also ransacked.
When it was time for a family visit in February, Ms. Li’s family was not notified. When they asked the prison officials why, they claimed that she had swallowed a pen refill on February 18. After coming back from rescue in the hospital, she was put in the intensified unit because of her “self-injury and self-mutilation” action. Therefore, family visits, letter writing, and telephone use were all suspended from February to April. She was isolated from the outside world.
After she began practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Li became open-minded and willing to help others. Because of her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and her wish to be a better person, she was sentenced to four years of imprisonment. After she returned from the hospital, the prison officials not only denied family visits, but also completely isolated her from the outside.
Two years of mental and physical torture, plus a long time in solitary confinement, has severely harmed this 63-year-old lady. Her family strongly requested her release.
Ms. Li’s husband was in poor health since he was very young and half of his lung had to be removed. After Ms. Li was detained in prison, her husband was often in tears and could not sleep.
