(Clearwisdom.net) At 7 p.m. on July 29, about ten people from Puxing Police Station in the Pudong New District and Pudong Police Department in Shanghai broke into the home of Mr. Chen Jie and his wife, Ms. Zhou Lin, in the Donglu Area of the Pudong District. The officers claimed that they had a video-recording of Mr. Chen and Ms. Lin handing out truth-clarification materials taken from a closed-circuit video-monitoring system in a certain local residential area on Wulian Road in the Pudong District.
One week has passed, and their family members have not been able to locate them. They want to bring them some clothes but can't find them. This is the third time that Mr. Chen has been detained since the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999.
Mr. Chen and Ms. Zhou are a very honest couple. They work very diligently and both of them practice Falun Gong.
When he was first persecuted in 2000, Mr. Chen was put in a forced labor camp for 18 months. At that time, Ms. Zhou was pregnant. When the child was born, Mr. Chen was still detained in the Forced Labor Camp at Dafeng Farm in Jiangsu Province. Ms. Zhou's mother-in-law took care of her, since her parents are both in Xinjiang Province. After Mr. Chen was released, he lost his job. He found a security job paying minimum wage to make ends meet.
In September 2005 he was arrested a second time. When they were clarifying the facts to people, someone reported them, and the police came and arrested them. Ms. Zhou's parents came all the way from Xinjiang Province to Shanghai. They were very worried about them. Later, Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years imprisonment and taken to Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai. After Ms. Chen was detained for one month, she was transferred to a brainwashing center.
After Ms. Zhou returned home, people from her company, Hudong Shipping Manufacturing Company, cut her salary because she practised Falun Gong and didn't want to give it up. Her father passed away between 2001 and 2002, and her mother-in-law was living on a living allowance of a few hundred yuan a month. She had to take care of her child and her mother-in-law, plus she had to save living expenses for her husband in the labor camp. Life was very hard for her. She went to her workplace to ask the managers to restore her salary, but to no avail. Someone from the management team told her that if she wrote a statement promising to give up practicing Falun Gong, they could restore her salary, but she refused.
In September 2008 when Mr. Chen was released, he took a job as a security guard at Wuniucheng Commercial Building in the Pudong area. Five or six months before the couple was arrested this time, his company's security department found out that he was a practitioner, and he was dismissed.
People from the 610 Office of the residential management committee in the Pudong area, as well as people working in their local residential management committee, often went to their home to harass them. Last year during the World Expo, they dispatched people to follow Mr. Chen on his way to and from home. Ms. Zhou's company often asked her to work overtime during the holidays, even though there was no urgent tasks.
The persecution has brought great harm to Mr. Chen and Ms. Zhou. We hope that people from China and abroad will support them in opposing this persecution and help them return home as quickly as possible.
