(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Cui Peiying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Miyun County, Beijing, was incarcerated in forced labor camps twice and became seriously ill as a result of brutal torture. She died on August 19, 2011.
Ms. Cui Peiying
Ms. Cui had many illnesses prior to practicing Falun Gong. After she started practicing, she benefited both physically and mentally, and she became free of illness. She was kind to others and was regarded as a very good person by her colleagues, friends, neighbors and family.
On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to suppress and slander Falun Gong. In order to return the innocence of Falun Gong, Ms. Cui often talked to people about Falun Gong and the persecution, and she was arrested many times because of it.
On August 31, 2002, Ms. Cui was arrested and her home was ransacked. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor. She was held in the Daxing Women's Forced Labor Camp in Beijing. Her husband, almost 60 and paralyzed from the waist down, was left at home alone. Ms. Cui was subjected to brutal torture because she refused to “transform.” The guards deprived her of sleep and made her stand from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. or longer. She was locked in solitary confinement in a small dark cell less than 20 square feet. For more than six months she was not allowed to brush her teeth, wash her face, bathe, or change her clothes. The guards incited collaborators and inmates who were convicted of prostitution to torment her.
Ms. Cui was released on August 31, 2004. Before she was arrested, she was a healthy woman and weighed 60 kg. When she was released, she weighed less than 35 kg and couldn't walk. Xiao Chunming, head of the Miyun County 610 Office, didn't notify her family or work unit about her release. On the day of her release, nobody came to pick her up and the camp called her family. When her husband got to the camp, the authorities refused to release her without seeing personnel from her work unit. The camp called her work unit and finally released her when the personnel arrived. Once home, Ms. Cui resumed practicing Falun Gong and was able to recover quickly.
However, Xiao Chunming and other officers arrested Ms. Cui again on January 9, 2009. They ransacked her home and confiscated a computer, printer, a DVD writer and other personal belongings. She was sent to a forced labor camp to serve a two-and-a-half-year term. The police tortured again because she refused to renounce her practice. As a result of torture and abuse, her health kept deteriorating. Ms. Cui's legs were swollen and she was in great pain. They cut an opening in her legs to drain them of pus and blood. The swelling disappeared only after the pus and blood were drained.
Eventually, Ms. Cui was in critical condition, and the camp authorities were afraid of being held responsible for her death. Therefore, they released her on medical parole in July 2010. Her leg joint was getting very big, and she was diagnosed with serious rheumatoid arthritis and lymphoma. Ms. Cui also developed a pustule on her neck and another one under her arm. It burst and discharged pus for a long time. She also had difficulty walking.
Officers from the Miyun Domestic Security Team and 610 Office repeatedly went to Ms. Cui's home and harassed her. They monitored her landlines and cellphones, and those of her family members, relatives and friends. The officers went to the workplace of her daughter and son-in-law and threatened them that they would be fired from work if Ms. Cui did not stop practicing Falun Gong. Her daughter was forced to divorce her husband, and Ms. Cui's husband couldn't withstand the endless harassment and passed away.
In July 2011, Ms. Cui started to have bladder and bowel incontinence and eventually wasn't able to take care of herself. She passed away on August 19, 2011.
