(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Huang Ying from Shanghai was sentenced to three years in prison by the Pudong Court in Shanghai on August 30, 2011.
Ms. Huang Ying's first appearance in the Pudong Court was a hearing on August 4, 2011. At the hearing, Ms. Huang refused the attorney assigned by the court and requested an attorney of her own choosing to defend her. The second session was held on August 17, 2011. Neither Ms. Huang's family nor her attorney were informed beforehand about where the session would be held. They went to the information center to find out where to appear. Surprisingly, there was no such record in the computer, but they were told the second trial had already taken place. After much effort, Ms. Huang's family learned where the trial was to be held.
During the proceedings, the public prosecutor first stated there was solid evidence and the case was serious. His first witness gave false testimony against Ms. Huang. However Ms. Huang's attorney pointed out that, in fact, the evidence was not sufficient and the charges were not proven. Ms. Huang also stated in the court that she never signed any statements and did not acknowledge any charges the prosecutor made against her. Finally, Ms. Huang asked the judge if she was being prosecuted because of her belief.
After two rounds of arguments, the public prosecutor was losing in facts and reasoning. The judge was also speechless, and was forced to call an adjournment.
The third trial was on August 30, 2011, but the proceedings were held in secret without an actual trial. The judge simply announced that Ms. Huang was sentenced to three years in prison.
