(Clearwisdom.net) I have a niece who works in Jilin Province; I will use an alias and call her Zhong Lian. She used to suffer from thyroid pain, loss of appetite and had dizzy spells for a long time in the past. She felt very weak and gradually lost weight. In October 2011, she was diagnosed with thyroid nodules, and there were some protruding lumps of various sizes on her neck. She was hospitalized on November 1. However, her platelet level was too low for surgery to go ahead. The doctors also found out that she had liver disease and was hepatitis B HBeAg-positive. HBeAg stands for hepatitis B "e" antigen. This antigen is a protein from the hepatitis B virus that circulates in infected blood when the virus is actively replicating. The presence of HBeAg suggests that it is infectious and the virus is able to spread to other people.
The doctor recommended that they treat her hepatitis first and have her platelet level increase, before they decide if she needs thyroid surgery. After two weeks in hospital, she didn't get any better; instead she became worse. Her platelet level was lower than when she checked into the hospital. This meant that it was impossible for her to have thyroid surgery.
Both Zhong Lian's father and her second eldest brother died from liver cancer. Zhong Lian once had hepatitis B about 20 years ago, but the symptoms disappeared after medical treatment, and she thought she had been cured. She became very stressed when she was told that the hepatitis had returned, and her husband traveled a long way back from another city, where he was working, to be with her. I had previously encouraged Zhong Lian to practice Falun Gong, but she didn't want to. This time I felt it was her chance to start cultivation practice. So I again encouraged her to practice. Although she had a little bit of doubt, she agreed.
I went to live with Zhong Lian and helped her to study the Fa and learn the exercises. Her husband is a businessman, and he worshiped several Buddha statues. I told them that Falun Gong is a high level Buddha Fa and that cultivation requires people not to undertake two schools of practice at the same time. We then gave the Buddha statues to a temple nearby.
Zhong Lian learned all five exercises on the first day. We practiced the exercises together and read one chapter of Zhuan Falun every morning. She then went to work in the afternoon, and we practiced the standing exercises again in the evening. In the first two days, her hands and feet felt cold when we finished doing the exercises. On the third day, she felt heat at the center of her palm and started to cough. She kept spitting out a lot of yellow mucus and blood. I told her that Master was cleansing her body for her.
The pain, dizziness and lack of appetite soon disappeared. When I returned home on the eleventh day, Zhong Lian kept studying the Fa and doing the exercises every day. She called me and said that she became very energetic and had gained some more weight.
Zhong Lian went to the hospital for an examination on December 20, 35 days after she started to study the Fa and do the exercises. The results showed that everything was almost normal. The smaller thyroid lumps had disappeared, the larger lumps had become soft and small, and the hepatitis B HBeAg had turned negative. The doctor was amazed upon seeing her improvements in such a short space of time. Zhong Lian was so excited that she couldn't hold back her tears. She said, “I obtained the Fa so late. I will cherish this opportunity and be diligent on my cultivation path. I will let more people know about the wonderfulness and beauty of Falun Dafa.” Her husband also wanted to listen to the recordings of Master's lectures. Many of her family members and friends expressed their interest in learning the exercises and studying the Fa.
Zhong Lian wants to express her gratitude to Master for her salvation. She bows in “Heshi” [hands pressed together in front of the chest, gesture of respect], and wishes Master a Happy New Year.
