(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners Ma Dengjiang and his wife Zhang Shiying began practicing Falun Gong in 1998. As a result, many of Ms. Zhang's diseases disappeared. Mr. Ma also enjoyed a blissfully healthy and vigorous body. The couple lived in happiness.
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, the couple was harassed, arrested, and subjected to many forms of torture by CCP members and police numerous times. Their home was broken into and ransacked, valuable personal property was stolen, and they were sentenced to imprisonment in forced labor camps.
Ms. Zhang traveled to Beijing after the persecution began, to appeal to authorities for the right to practice Falun Gong, but was intercepted by the Domestic Security Division from Yi County. She was taken back to the school where she was employed and imprisoned for two days. The police refused to give her food or water, yet they beat and verbally abused her, didn't allow her to speak, then transferred her to the local town government for detention. At the detention center, she was subjected to physical punishment, including slave labor, threats and curses, brainwashing, etc. She was then extorted of money. Ms. Zhang became a target of heightened persecution from that point forward. Every few days, a few members of the CCP visited her home to harass her, causing great physical and psychological harm to the couple. They were arrested by Liang Jianhua, chief of the Peishan Town Police Station, Liu Xuewu, Peishan Town CCP Secretary Zhang Xuegang and others, and were subsequently imprisoned and extorted.
In 2003, Tian Guojun from the Yi County Domestic Security Division and chief Liang from the Peishan Town Police Station led a team of officers to break into and ransack their home. They threatened Mr. Ma with physical harm. Mr. Ma's son tried to reason with them, but they tried to take him away. Ms. Zhang shouted at them, and the officers finally released their son. They then grabbed Mr. Ma, subduing him with a stranglehold on his neck. He couldn't breathe and was pinned to the floor, handcuffed, and then dragged into a police vehicle. He was taken to the local detention center, where he was held for 15 days, and extorted of 500 yuan. Officials ignored legal procedures during these events.
In 2008, Tian Guojun and Guo Jinqi, chief of the Chengzhen Police Station, along with Li Jincheng, Cui Jianhua, Zhang Haiyan, and team of a dozen men from the county police station, broke into Mr. Ma's home at around 7:00 p.m. Tian presented a set of fabricated documents, and the team began ransacking the home. The couple tried to stop them but were restrained in chairs. The team confiscated their personal belongings, including Dafa books, computers, printers, a CD burner, and 10,000 yuan in cash. Even their flashlight and farm tools were taken, and their house was left in ruin.
After their home was ransacked and their personal property confiscated, the couple was forced into a police vehicle. That night, Tian forced Mr. Ma to stand for prolonged periods for interrogation. He refused to cooperate, so Tian severely beat him. Tian slapped him countless times, which injured his eardrum and impaired his hearing. Even now, his ear remains swollen and infected. Mr. Ma was knocked unconscious, and Tian was afraid of being held responsible for the injuries, so he ordered two men to take Mr. Ma to the hospital. Hospital officials didn't release him, yet Mr. Ma was taken back to the County Domestic Security Division the following day, then transferred to the Chengguan Police Station at noon. Ms. Zhang was still imprisoned at the County Domestic Security Division. Their home was left unattended.
The next day, their neighbor notified their daughter, who is married. She went to their home and saw that her parent's home had been destroyed, and became extremely upset. She carried her three year-old child to the local public security office to demand the release of her parents. She asked, “What's wrong with practicing Falun Gong? Isn't it good to rid people of health problems and strengthen their bodies?” Ms. Zhang, who was imprisoned there, heard her daughter and tried to run out to meet her, but was restrained. That afternoon, Ms. Zhang was transferred to the Chengguan Police Station where she was interrogated. She was not given anything to drink or eat that entire day.
That night, Mr. Ma was transferred to the county detention center where officials tried to force him to sign several documents, but he refused to cooperate. The police then ordered a man surnamed Zhao to force Mr. Ma into a kneeling position, then begin brutally beating him with a club. Two police officers also continuously struck him, leaving Mr. Ma injured and bleeding profusely. Police then ordered other inmates to beat and curse him. Mr. Ma endured this brutal, inhumane torture, and still refused to submit to their demands.
Mr. Ma was imprisoned in the detention center for forty days before being transferred to the Baoding Forced Labor Camp. However, during the entrance medical examination, his injuries and illness were so severe that the forced labor camp officials refused to admit him. The police then bribed a doctor in a Chinese medicine hospital and returned him to the forced labor camp. Mr. Ma was placed in solitary confinement. He was monitored and forced to watch brainwashing anti-Falun Gong propaganda without rest. The authorities also had a specialist assigned to "transform" him. After two months, Mr. Ma was in severe pain from his injuries and illness, and was taken to the 252 Hospital for an examination. Hospital officials told the police chief, “Why did you wait so long to bring him here in such critical condition?” After a few days of treatment, the forced labor camp officials didn't want to pay more medical expenses, so they notified Mr. Ma's family, the local police station, and village CCP council, but no one responded. Mr. Ma's daughter traveled to the forced labor camp to take him home, but officials refused to release him unless his family paid his medical expenses. Mr. Ma's daughter told the police sternly, “If anything happens to my father, we're taking you to court!” The officials were frightened and allowed her to complete the necessary paperwork. He was then taken home by officer Guo Jinqi.
Ms. Zhang was imprisoned at the county detention center for two months, where her health rapidly deteriorated. The detention center was concerned about bearing responsibility, and sent her home. Guo Jinqi then extorted 300 yuan from her. Her daughter was anxious for her parents' return, and CCP members used a series of enticements and threats to take advantage of the situation. Officers Guo Jinqi and Ma Kungang extorted 6,000 yuan from her. Even after Ms. Zhang returned home, the county Domestic Security Division and the local police station continued harassing her.
During the couple's imprisonment, officer Cui Jianhua broke into their home again and tried to deceive their daughter. The 200 yuan that she paid to the detention center was never returned.
One night in May 2010, Huang Jianliang from the Peishan Police Station led eight or nine officers to break into their home again, then ransacked it. The couple tried to reason with them, but they called the local police station for more backup. A little later, Li Jincheng from the county police station entered their home, handcuffed Mr. Ma, forced him into a police vehicle, then took him to the local police station. That night, he was transferred to the Qiaotou Village Police Station, where he was subjected to brutal, inhumane torture. He was bound to a tiger bench for four nights. His legs were extremely swollen and the pain was unbearable. Huang threatened him and demanded that he sign a document. He also interrogated him regarding the source of his Dafa books and truth clarification materials. Another officer clenched Mr. Ma's ears from behind and pulled his head back, while another officer pinched and twisted his chest severely. Huang Jianliang began laughing out loud, saying that even he couldn't bear it any longer, “How could you still be so strong after being handcuffed for days, and without any food and water, or being allowed to use the bathroom?” Huang began torturing Mr. Ma with increasing severity. His physical condition had deteriorated, yet Huang refused to take him to the hospital, and ordered Tian Guojun to take him to the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp. A few days later, Huang Jianliang and Li Jincheng came to the Huangyang Forced Labor Camp, where they subjected him to a series of threats and verbal abuse. Mr. Ma was then taken to the Handan Forced Labor Camp. He was subjected to extreme torture - simply inhumane persecution, for three months. Prior to Mr. Ma's release, officials tried to extort money from him again, but Ms. Zhang recognized their intent and exposed them.
From 1999 till today, the Yi County CCP, government, and police department have harassed, arrested, fined, and extorted Mr. Ma and Ms. Zhang countless times, in addition to ransacking their home and sending them to forced labor camps. Many thousands of yuan were extorted from them. Tian Guojun boldly claimed that he'd extorted over forty thousand yuan from them, including thousands in fines and personal property.
