was arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on October 25,
2011. Her family did not find out about her arrest until that
night, and they still don’t know her current whereabouts.
Because of her belief in Falun Gong and the principles of
Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Ms. Zhang was imprisoned in a
forced labor camp twice before for a total of five years. In
addition, she was detained in a brainwashing facility for six
months. Besides being detained six times at various detention
centers, she had a total of 15,000 yuan extorted from her.
Ms. Zhang started practicing Falun Gong in 1997 and from that day
forward, her life changed. In the past, she was weak,
short-tempered, and suffered from different health problems. After
she started to practice Falun Gong, she became healthy and happy,
and her life was renewed.
On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin and the CCP started to slander and
persecute Falun Gong. On July 22, many people from the
Comprehensive Management Office in Huangshan Town and the police
station broke into Ms. Zhang’s home. They pressured her to write a
promise that she would no longer practice Falun Gong, but she
refused to cooperate and was later put under surveillance. The head
of the town, Zhang Deshun, and the director of the police station,
Liu, often led people to her home and harassed her family day and
night. Her parents and children lived in constant fear.
Ms. Zhang Aifeng went to Beijing many times to appeal. As a result, she was repeatedly arrested, detained, and beaten. During one detention, they burned her fingers and skin with a lighter. On another occasion, right after she was beaten until she had wounds all over, she was detained in a brainwashing facility for over six months. During that time, they forced her to sit on the hot concrete floor during an extremely hot day. In the winter, they inserted a water hose into her clothes and poured in cold water, soaking her completely. They did not allow her to move. Later, Ms. Zhang and other practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest this mistreatment. Consequently, they were force fed in a hospital and their families had large amounts of money extorted from them.

On July 7, 2004, when Ms. Zhang was explaining the facts about Falun Gong to others, she was arrested by officers with the Cuijiayu Police Station. After being detained for a month, she was transferred to the Yishui County Detention Center and detained for another month. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor and transferred to the Wangcun Women's Forced Labor Camp. Police officers and instructors Wang, Cui, and Ding Haiying locked her in a small room, stripped off her clothes, and tried to force her to wear a prison uniform. When she refused, they beat her and didn’t allow her to use the toilet.

In 2010, police officers Han Xiaodong, Yang Bo, Guo Zhaoxue, Duan Jianfei, and Xu Xianghua from the Huangshanpu Town Police Station broke into her home and confiscated tapes, Dafa books, and DVD players. They dragged Ms. Zhang to the front yard and then to the gate and finally put her into a car and took her to the detention center.
