(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Chunxiang was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2006, and incarcerated at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. She died in prison on September 25, 2011.
Ms. Wang was good-natured and was very patient. She had a fair complexion and a soft voice. She was willing to help others, seeing whoever needed help, she would approach and offer her help.
On October 31, 2006, Ms. Wang was arrested by officers from the First Division of the Dandong Police Department and taken to the Dandong Detention Center. Ms. Wang's blood pressure was constantly at high levels. She was examined at Dandong Police Hospital and Dandong No. 1 Hospital, and her blood pressure exceeded 200 mmHg. Doctors diagnosed her with a heart problem and with a hardening of the cerebral blood vessels.
Ms. Wang was sent to the Dabei Prison (All prisons in Liaoning Province are collectively known as Dabei Prison) in early April 2007 and rejected because she had very high blood pressure. On September 8, 2007, the detention center sent Ms. Wang to Dabei Prison again, saying that they could no longer find her medical records.
Ms. Wang was held at the First Prison District in the Liaoning Women's Prison. She was forced to stand overnight, and was beaten by inmates. In late 2009, Yin Na became the head guard of the First Prison District. Ms. Wang was forced to stand for four days because she began a hunger strike to protest the forced labor. She was later hospitalized and came back after the Chinese New Year. Yin Na ordered inmates to drag Ms. Wang to the dining hall and slap her face because she refused to do labor. Ms. Wang had high blood pressure at the time and was hospitalized not long after that. When Ms. Wang came back, Yin Na found fault with her and swore at her, which led to Ms. Wang's blood pressure rising again. An inmate carried Ms. Wang to the hospital.
When Ms. Wang came back, Zheng Qiuju, head of the education section, forced her to stand for a long period of time. One day, Ms. Wang fainted on the way to the dining hall due to her high blood pressure and days of physical punishment. She was again hospitalized.
Ms. Wang was transferred to the Ninth Prison District in January 2011. Just a few days after she arrived there, a guard said, “From today on, Wang Chunxiang will start 'studying'. Head Wu Li said that we can beat her and swear at her whenever it is necessary.” From that day on, Ms. Wang was taken to the storage room in the evenings and forced to stand for long periods of time.
Ms. Wang refused to do so on March 9. Guard Gao Huaiying instigated inmates Sun Ning, collaborator Yang Yang, and Zhang Ying to forcibly take Ms. Wang to the storage room. Sun Ning pushed Ms. Wang to the ground and then pulled her up and dragged her to the storage room. Ms. Wang cried, “What are you doing?” Yang Yang and Zhang Ying beat her severely. Ms. Wang reported the incident to head Wu Li, but got no result.
Ms. Wang was taken to the storage room on March 15 and severely beaten. The guard said to the inmates, who's cells were across the storage room, "None of you saw this, right? Nobody saw this!"
On April 5, 2011, Ms. Wang was taken to the storage room again, where Yang Yang and Zhang Ying beat her severely. The guards were watching outside the room. Ms. Wang ran out of the room, telling the guards, “They are beating me.” The guards said, “Who beat you? Who saw it?” “Who let you not do labor in the workshop?” Ms. Wang was dragged back to the room and beaten continuously. When she was taken back to the cell, bruises covered her body. Her buttocks had been pierced by needles and was festering and turning black.
Ms. Wang subsequently developed kidney problems and frequently used the restroom. Group leader Su Ying ordered whichever inmate who was on duty to give Ms. Wang less water, but Ms. Wang was often thirsty due to high blood pressure. An inmate pitied her and asked the other inmate on duty to give more water to Ms. Wang. The man said, “We don't dare to. The group leader doesn't allow it.”
Zhang Ying once described to other inmates how she beat Ms. Wang. She said, “I hit her chest with my fist...” She then made a “fast punch” movement.
The inmates did extra work on Sunday, September 25, 2011. Ms. Wang was kept in the cell. It is not known what happened to her during the day. When the inmates got back to the cell in the evening, they learned that Ms. Wang had died on the way to the hospital.
