(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Liang Guofen and her husband Mr. Liu Gufang, who are both 40, are Falun Gong practitioners from Luliang County in Yunnan Province. They were arrested in March 2010 by officers from the local 610 Office and Domestic Security Division. Their home was then ransacked. Ms. Liang was sentenced to 12 years and is being held in Yunnan Second Women's Prison. Mr. Liu was sentenced to 7 years and is being held in Yunnan First Prison. Their six-year-old daughter has to live without her parents' support.
Ms. Liang Guofen's father, in his 70s, describes the injustice that his daughter and son-in-law have suffered for practicing Falun Gong:
My name is Liang Jian. I am a resident of Luliang County in Yunnan Province. My eldest daughter Ms. Liang Guofen was a former employee of Luliang Silk Factory. My son-in-law, Mr. Liu Gufang, owns a jewelery store. They live in the residential community of the Luliang Silk Factory.
My daughter and son-in-law practice Falun Gong and are good people
My eldest daughter was not in good health when she was young, and often caught colds and had to go to the hospital frequently. In 1998, she began to practice Falun Gong. Through reading the book Zhuan Falun and doing the exercises, she became healthy and happier. She is a good person and follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
When my son-in-law saw the changes in his wife, he decided to practice as well. He is an honest and decent businessman with a good reputation, and has many customers from places far away.
At around 6:00 a.m. on March 26, 2010, my youngest daughter called me and told me that officers from Luliang Domestic Security Division had arrested my eldest daughter at her home. They then went to my son-in-law's store and arrested him. They ransacked both places and confiscated a computer, printer, DVD burner and a paper cutter. Liang Guofen had to call her younger sister to come and take care of her child.
I later found out that my daughter was detained in Malong County Detention Center and my son-in-law was detained in Luliang Detention Center.
In the fall of 2010, I heard that the officials at Luliang Court would be holding a hearing for my daughter and son-in-law. My whole family, over ten people, went to the court. Four officials from the Qujing City Intermediate Court came to Luliang Court the same day for the hearing. Our family was not notified by the court of the hearing. Our family knows that my daughter and son-in-law have not done anything wrong. With our presence, the court did not reach a verdict that day.
However, my youngest daughter told me that her sister and brother-in-law were taken to prison. At first, she did not tell me how long they were sentenced for, as she was afraid that I would worry about them. She only told me that my daughter had been taken to Yunnan Second Women's Prison and my son-in-law had been taken to Yunnan First Prison.
