(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Quan is a government employee in the agricultural bureau of Fengqing County, Yunnan Province. His family includes his mother Ms. Zeng Jufang who is in her sixties and a farmer, and his younger sister Ms. Li Xian and younger brother Mr. Li Xing, both of whom are teachers. Mr. Li Quan began practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and lives according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
In July 2000, Mr. Li went to Beijing to appeal against the unjust treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. He was arrested and sent to a forced labor camp for three years.
Approximately 15 people ransacked Mr. Li's home on February 14, 2012. They then raided the home of his mother in Xiangtang, without showing a search warrant. They confiscated a computer, printer, CDs, Falun Dafa books, around 5,000 yuan in cash, and other personal belongings. The family knew that several sacks filled with their belongings were taken, but they had no idea what was inside them. A large leather chest was also taken. Mr. Li was verbally abused and humiliated, and his mother was left traumatized from the ordeal. The value of the personal belongings taken is estimated to be over 20,000 yuan.
Mr. Li was arrested and taken to Fengqing Detention Center. While in the detention center he immediately began a hunger strike to protest his arrest, and told people the facts about Falun Gong and the persecution. He has been held there for over ten days and his family is worried about his condition.
Mr. Li's mother, younger brother, and sister decided to appeal and have stated, “We demand the immediate release of Mr. Li Quan and a complete investigation into all parties that are legally responsible. We want all of the confiscated property returned, and to be compensated for any items that have been lost. We want to be compensated for all of the mental suffering, financial losses, and loss of reputation that Mr. Li Quan and our family have suffered from, according to the laws of our country.”
