Vice-president of The Control Yuan: “Like being in the presence of gods...”
Mr. Chen Jinn-Lih, vice-president of The Control Yuan
Among political and business elites attending the Shen Yun performance on March 22 was vice-president of The Control Yuan, Mr. Chen Jinn-Lih, who had high praise for Shen Yun. He said that Shen Yun was not only a feast for the senses, but was full of profound spirituality, and nothing less than a world-class performance.
“Every program was wonderful. "Joyful Little Monks" was very humorous, and the dance artists in "Qing Imperial Guards" not only had solid dance skills in performing those difficult movements, but also were able to portray the feelings of strength and gentleness.”
He said it was indeed worthy of the name Shen Yun, which in Chinese means “Divinely Elegant.” “It was really fantastic. We don’t normally see this type of performance these days.”
He was also impressed by the flowing colors of the backdrops. “The colors were not like average colors,” he said. “The green was different. The blue was also blue in a very special way. The yellows and reds were faint but very bright.” All the colors in every backdrop gave him the feeling of spiritual flowing, purity, and joyfulness. He said it felt “...like being in the presence of gods.”
“One’s heart became tranquil. The true, the good, and the beautiful were all manifested,” Mr. Chen said, adding that with the rich colors, together with the music and the dancing, it was a truly overwhelming audio-visual feast. “I really admire the choreographers and the director. This is the most successful performance--I’ve never seen anything so tremendous.”
Taiwanese Singer: One Would Regret Missing Shen Yun
Famous senior Taiwanese singer Rain Hsieh
Also in the audience for the Shen Yun performance was famous senior Taiwanese singer Rain Hsieh, who had come all the way from Kaohsiung to see it. He was deeply impressed and urged the general public not to miss the opportunity. He said, “The colors of the costumes are very beautiful and righteous. I feel my whole body is very relaxed and comfortable. Everybody should come to see the performance; otherwise they will regret it.”
Mr. Hsieh marveled at the perfect harmony of the music and the dances, “Great music! It's amazing how it can harmonize so well with the dances. Do they compose the music first, or do they create the choreography first?” he asked.
Mr. Rain Hsieh is known as an evergreen singing star in Taiwan. He first started singing in 1964 and has released over 100 albums over the past 40 years. In addition, he has also been a TV host and an actor in TV soap operas.
Tourists from China Come to Taiwan to See Shen Yun
Mr. Liu from China attended the Shen Yun performance with his family. After seeing it, they were delighted and discussed the spectacular show. “It's really magical! Fantastic! Such feelings can't be expressed in words!” A radiant look came over Mr. Liu's face, as if obtaining the most precious treasure. “We made a special trip to come to see Shen Yun! Our entire family came by plane. Such a rare opportunity, our feelings can't be conveyed!”
Two Shen Yun pieces struck Mr. Liu in particular, "Crazy Ji Saves the Day," and "Flower Fairies." “They really are passed down from China's 5,000 years of culture.” He added.
Two people from Liaoning Province in China said, “Shen Yun is now especially popular in China. It has spread everywhere and all people are looking for it and watching the DVD. Seeing is believing. Today, we finally fulfilled our dream.”
“We found out the dates of the Shen Yun performances in Taiwan and planned to come and see it more than a month ago. We were in Kaohsiung on March 17 and wanted to see Shen Yun there, but the tickets were all sold out. We stood outside the gate of the theater, but there weren’t any tickets left for sale at all! We were very sad at the time.”
“So we came to Taipei and finally were able to see Shen Yun, fulfilling our dream. We traveled thousands of miles just to see Shen Yun and we felt honored and happy to see the performance personally in the theater. Shen Yun is really deserving of its reputation. We were deeply touched and stunned. It’s been a worthwhile trip.”
At Taipei station, when tourists from China see people with a Shen Yun program booklet, they walk over and ask them, “Have you just seen Shen Yun? How far is Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from the station and how do we get there?”
One lady said, “We are from China. We’re going to see where the venue is and we will come back to see Shen Yun tomorrow!”
Ms. Li, who is in charge of an enterprise in China, made a special trip from Beijing to Taiwan with her parents to see the Shen Yun performance. Ms. Li was said emotionally, “Stunning!” Ms. Li and her mother kept shedding tears. Ms. Li tried hard to calm herself down and said, “The feelings of people from Taiwan and mainland China are different.”
