(Minghui.org) On April 1, 2012, Jiang Xiaohong, Presiding Judge of the Zhongshan District Court in Dalian, Liaoning Province, prevented Ms. Liu Ronghua's family from attending a court hearing for Ms. Liu and quickly pronounced her sentence. Ms. Liu Ronghua, who is being persecuted because she practices Falun Gong, was illegally sentenced to another ten years in prison after being detained in a forced labor camp first for two years and then in a detention center for six months.
Ms. Liu was an associate professor at Dalian Fisheries School. Her articles were published in the Chinese Encyclopedia. However, this good person, who diligently worked in education and always considered others first, was repeatedly persecuted by the CCP. In September 2009, Ms. Liu was taken to the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and detained there for two years. When her term ended in September 2011, the Dalian 610 Office transferred Ms. Liu from the forced labor camp directly to the detention center. On January 9, 2012, the Dalian 610 Office ordered the justice system to try Ms. Liu and detain her for a long time. It was to be a public session. But the court created many problems for her attorney and, when the hearing began, the court gate was tightly closed. Court personnel also dispatched people to prevent Ms. Liu's family, relatives, and friends from the hearing.
On March 30, 2012, the Zhongshan District Court informed Ms. Liu's attorney to go to the court at 10 a.m. April 1, 2012, for the verdict. On the afternoon of March 31, 2012, the attorney went to the courthouse to get written notification of the hearing, but did not see Jiang Xiaohong, the presiding judge.
On April 1, 2012, at about 9 a.m., Ms. Liu's parents and attorney went to the courthouse and waited for the verdict. Many police vehicles were parked outside the building. There were several police officers standing in the hall attentively. The attorney asked a receptionist to find Judge Jiang Xiaohong. The receptionist said she was not around. Ms. Liu's parents asked the attorney when the trial would begin. The attorney could not tell them because he did not know either.
At 9:30 a.m., the police informed the attorney and Ms. Liu's mother to go upstairs to see Judge Jiang Xiaohong. But they did not allow other family members to go upstairs. Due to Ms. Liu's family and relatives' strong protests, Ms. Liu's father and the person who took care of him were allowed to go upstairs. When they arrived on the fourth floor, they were told that the judge was just about to pass judgment. Ms. Liu's mother was very angry and said that although it was called a public session, the court did not inform the attorney or the family of the time of the trial. In such a situation, the police only allowed Ms. Liu's mother to go into the courtroom and hear the verdict. It was said there was only one space left and the whole room was packed. Ms. Liu's mother insisted that all the family members on the fourth floor enter the courtroom. After arguing for a while, the police asked those who sat in the room according to their arrangement in advance to leave and give the seats to Ms. Liu's relatives.
In the courtroom, Judge Jiang Xiaohong quickly announced the 10-year sentence and would not answer any questions raised by the attorney at the first trial. The attorney pointed out that the whole investigation and accusation procedure violated the law, evidence against the defendant contradicted itself, the evidence collection procedure was illegal, and the prosecution's witnesses did not appear in court. The court's decision was based on evidence collected two years ago. Jiang Xiaohong summarized why Ms. Liu had been detained in a forced labor camp for the second time, primarily because she still firmly believes in Falun Dafa. The CCP court imposed a ridiculously heavy sentence because the judge said Ms. Liu held more Falun Dafa materials than a certain number. Two years of forced labor would be counted to reduce the term.
The session ended in less than 15 minutes. After the sentence was announced, Prosecutor Wang Jichao and Judge Jiang Xiaohong did not dare to look at Ms. Liu's mother. They lowered their heads and slipped out. Ms. Liu's mother followed Jiang Xiaohong to ask for the judgment in writing. Jiang Xiaohong did not even turn around. Ms. Liu's mother could not find her afterwards.
Facing such an unjust sentence, Ms. Liu Ronghua requested an appeal in the court and her family also strongly supported her in this. They also asked the attorney to uphold the truth to the world and accept Ms. Liu's appeal case.
