(Minghui.org) This May 13 marks the 20th anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa to the public. On May 5, 2012, Karen Freeman-Wilson, Mayor of the City of Gary, Indiana, proclaimed May 5, 2012 as Falun Dafa Day in recognition of Falun Dafa’s 20 years of dedicated service to the community. Below is the text of the proclamation.

Whereas, Falun Dafa is an advanced exercise and meditation practice of mind, body and spirit based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa transcends cultural and racial boundaries and contributes to the universal dream of a peaceful, tolerant, and more compassionate society; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa, publicly introduced by Mr. Li Hongzhi in 1992, is now practiced and cherished by over 100 million people in over 100 countries and has received a plethora of honors; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa is celebrating 20 years of dedicated service to the community;
Whereas, numerous practitioners of Falun Dafa are persecuted in China for their teachings; and
Whereas: Indiana residents participate in the global effort in peacefully appealing for freedom and human rights for those in need; and
Now, Therefore: I, Karen Freeman-Wilson, Mayor of the City of Gary, Indiana, do hereby proclaim May 5, 2012 as
“Falun Dafa Day”
