(Minghui.org) Mr. Tang Jian is 37 years old. He is currently held at Yongchuan Prison in Chongqing.
Mr. Tang Jian was transferred from a detention center to Yongchuan Prison in May of 2012. His family visited him on June 17, 2012, and said he was weak and emaciated. According to the prison authorities, the inmates were treated well with nutritious meals. When his family visited him again on July 9, 2012, they became very concerned. Besides significant weight loss, his legs were swollen, and he could only walk very slowly and with difficulty. He seemed extremely tired.
When his family visited in June, he was happy to see them, but in July, he looked worn out, and did not have the strength to talk. Before the 30-minute visitation was over, he was already exhausted, and used all his strength to walk back to his cell.
Since Mr. Tang's imprisonment, he has refused to memorize the prison rules and regulations, resisted the persecution, and refused to be “transformed”. His family is concerned that he may have been subject to torture or abuse by other inmates. One family member almost passed out when she saw him so weak and emaciated. She was so anxious about his condition that she could not stop crying and she could hardly sleep or eat.
