(Minghui.org) Ms. Chang Zheng, 40, from Suzhou City, lives alone, and her family and friends only realized at the beginning of November, 2013 that she had been missing. When they started to inquire about her whereabouts, they found out that she had been arrested around November 13, 2012, by the head of the Suzhou 610 Office He Xiaodi, Suzhou Domestic Security Division officer Zhou Wenqiu, and officers from the Suzhou 610 Office and Gaoxin District Huguan Police Station. She was illegally detained in the Suzhou Shangfangshan Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Chang's mother, Ms. Chang Guifeng, also a Falun Gong practitioner, passed away as a result of persecution on June 19, 2010, and was Ms. Chang's only immediate family member. Ms. Chang doesn't have any family now that can appeal for her case. Her godmother and distant relatives have tried to bring clothes to her, but they were turned away by guards at the brainwashing center. The guards also threatened them and told them that the only people allowed to visit her were those who are capable of getting her to renounce her belief.
Agents from the 610 Office have changed the lock to Ms. Chang's home without permission and have entered her home many times to search the place. At least three laptop computers, one cellphone and other personal belongings have been confiscated.
Before Ms. Chang's mother started to practice Falun Gong in 1996, she suffered from many illnesses, including heart problems, diabetes and Meniere's syndrome. However, her illnesses disappeared soon after she began the practice. When Ms. Chang was arrested on January 24, 2010, while she was handing out truth clarification materials near Suzhou Huangqiao Township, her mother was taken away from her home the following day by officers from Huangqiao Police Station. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated a printer, computer and her Dafa books. Both mother and daughter were interrogated for three days. Threatened and intimidated by the police, Ms. Chang's mother's health deteriorated rapidly, and she was released on bail to seek medical treatment. She was 59 years old at the time. Ms. Chang was taken to the Suzhou Detention Center and returned home after about two weeks.
Since March 2010, officer Shi from the Huguan Police Station and people from the local community residential committee repeatedly went to Ms. Chang's mother's home to harass her. They also assigned someone to monitor her.
Zhou Wenqiu led a few officers from Huguan Police Station and went to Ms. Chang's mother's home around May 2010. They tried to force Ms. Chang to go to a brainwashing center, but she refused to cooperate. Ms. Chang's mother was constantly terrified of the police. She lost consciousness on June 19, 2010 and passed away.
