(Minghui.org) On November 15, 2012, Ms. Wang Jing, a young nurse who works at Xinmin City Hospital, was illegally tried by Xinmin City Court in Liaoning Province because of her belief in Falun Gong. She was represented by a righteous Beijing attorney who defended her innocence, and requested an acquittal.
The “court hearing” was originally scheduled for 9 a.m., but was suddenly rescheduled for 11 a.m. The court police attempted to stop people from attending the hearing, and disallowed entry of those without ID. When the attorney asked: “Isn't it a public hearing? The people coming to the hearing are the friends of Ms. Wang Jing.” The bailiff at the door said: “This is an order from above. People with no ID will not be allowed to enter.” Even Ms. Wang Jing's younger sister, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, was prevented from entering, and sadly burst into tears.
In court, the defense attorney said that believing in Falun Gong is not a crime. When the attorney spoke about the crimes of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and public security departments in persecuting Dafa practitioners, he was interrupted by the court several times, but he insisted on defending the practitioner to the end. A majority of the court officials were moved by the just defense, yet judge Wang Meng and the prosecutors showed a hostile attitude toward the defense attorney, and repeatedly interrupted his statements.
Xinmin Domestic Security Division head Yan Xianhua attended the hearing. Vice head Wang Bingyuan ordered a policewoman to videotape the court observers, as well as people outside the court who were interested in the case. This behavior publicly violated citizens' rights and privacy. The police used these means to intimidate and threaten the defense attorney, and interfered with the course of justice. People questioned the policewoman about why she was filming them, but she ingnored them and went on recording.
During the trial, an observer left the courtroom to go to the restroom, and was prevented from re-entering by the bailiff. The trial ended at 1:30 p.m.
Ms. Wang Jing is a nurse at Xinmin Hospital. Because she believes in Falun Gong's teachings of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance, she has been abducted, illegally detained by the CCP police many times, and suffered persecution in the notorious Shenyang Longshan Forced Labor Camp and Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.
On August 28, 2012, Wang Jing was arrested, and her home was ransacked, the police confiscated a number of her personal items. On that same day, Shenyang police colluded with several police stations in Xinmin City to arrest at least nine other Falun Gong practitioners. They used a master key to enter some residences, arrest people, and rob them of their personal possessions.
