(Minghui.org) Ms. Guan Shuli, Mr. Feng Jianwei and his two brothers were illegally arrested on December 6, 2013, by officers from the Xinnong Police Station. Ma Yuehui, chief of the police station, led the arrest and subsequently manhandled Mr. Feng's lawyer.
Detained for Spiritual Belief
The four practitioners live in Daoli District, Harbin City. Ms. Guan and Mr. Feng were on the police so-called “wanted list” for practicing Falun Gong. As a result, police had been monitoring Mr. Feng's home for a long period of time.
The four practitioners remained silent during the interrogation. All of them were beaten by police. Despite being pressured to sign documents, they refused to cooperate.
All four are currently held at the Daoli District Detention Center.
The police ransacked their homes and confiscated Falun Gong books, 10,000 yuan in cash, and other personal belongings.
Lawyers Manhandled and Harassed
Mr. Feng's family hired two defense lawyers from Beijing. The lawyers went to the detention center on December 9 to meet their client. Ma Yuehui and several other officers arrived at the same time to interrogate Mr. Feng. The lawyers told Ma that they were hired by the family, and that practicing Falun Gong is not in violation of the law.
Ma rudely refused to listen. He manhandled the lawyers and even attempted to hit them. The lawyers told him: “Who gives you the right to treat lawyers like that? We will sue you.” Ma immediately tamed his ways.
The lawyers subsequently called the director of the police department to report how Ma had harassed them.
