(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Guangwei from Pingdu City, Shandong Province was illegally sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison, and his wife Ms. Sun Suling hired righteous lawyers to defend him. She was then arrested by officers from the local 610 Office and also sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison. Ms. Sun has appealed to the Qingdao Intermediate Court. Her husband has been taken to Jinan Men's Prison in Shandong Province.
While putting up posters for Shen Yun, a show that promotes traditional Chinese culture, the couple was reported by a clerk named Qiao Xianpeng from Majiaxibu Village, Landi Township and were arrested on March 14, 2012. Police officers from the Landi Police Station led by Wang Zhoujian made the arrest and ransacked the couple's home. Mr. Wang was taken to the Pingdu City Detention Center on the afternoon of March 15. Ms. Sun was released on bail.
The Pingdu Procuratorate filed a case against Mr. Wang on July 13. The Pingdu City Court originally decided to have the trial on July 27 at 2 p.m. Mr. Wang's family hired two lawyers from Beijing to defend him. His family and friends widely distributed invitation letters to local residents to attend the hearing and this caused the Pingdu 610 Office authorities' panic reaction. They manipulated the Pingdu Court officials in order to postpone the trial date while fabricating evidence in an attempt to arrest Ms. Sun again. They threatened to not set a date for the trial until Ms. Sun was arrested.
The Pingdu Court officials secretly held a session and illegally tried Mr. Wang on September 4, without notifying his two defense lawyers. Judge Liu Jianguo unlawfully sentenced him to five-and-a-half years in prison. He was taken to Jinan Prison twice by officers of the Pingdu Police Department and was rejected admission both times due to high blood pressure which puts him in the high risk category.
While working with harvesting peanuts in the yard, Ms. Sun was arrested around 5 p.m. on September 19, by officers from the Pingdu City 610 Office and Domestic Security Division led by Liu Jie. She was subjected to severe beatings by Liu because she refused to cooperate. She has been illegally detained at the Qingdao Police Department.
When the family members went to the Landi Police Station inquiring about Ms. Sun on February 4, 2013, they were told that her case had been sent to the court and is in the process of reaching a decision. The family was also told that it was the head of the Wangjiazhuang Village, Wang Guangping, who signed the paperwork. The family members questioned police officer Wang Zhoujian of Landi Township Police Station (who participated in the couple's arrest) and said “Mr. Wang has three older brothers. Why were they not notified, and instead the head of the village was notified and asked to sign the paperwork?” Wang said, “If she doesn't have any family members then notifying the village officials works too.” How is it that to these police officers, her husband's brothers were not considered her family? And Ms. Sun has her own brother and sister who run a small business in Landi Township—are they not family either?
During the process, police officer Zhang Linlin was extremely rude and yelled at Ms. Sun's son Mr. Wang Linlin who is a sophomore at Zhejiang University. Zhang also gave absurd comments such as, “How could there be any schools if it's not for the Chinese Communist Party? Who built the schools?”
Four Pingdu City 610 Office officials including Dai Yugang went to Wangjiazhuang Village on February 5. The head of the village Wang Guangping tricked Ms. Sun's son Mr. Wang Linlin to come to the office by inviting him to “discuss the issue regarding Mr. Wang Guangwei's release.” The city 610 Office officials led by Dai not only slandered Mr. Wang and Ms. Sun in front of their son, but also threatened Mr. Wang Linlin and asked if he wrote the article that was published on the Minghui website on February 2 that calls for people's support in rescuing Mr. Wang.
Ms. Sun's family members went through a lot of trouble, ran back and forth between Qingdao Public Security Supervision Department, the Pingdu Court, and many other agencies, and finally confirmed that Ms. Sun had been illegally sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison by judges of the Pingdu Court, including Guo Pengchun and Wang Zhongfu. Ms. Sun has appealed to a higher court. Her son Mr. Wang Linlin didn't get to visit her during the entire process.
The guards from the Pingdu Detention Center took Mr. Wang who suffered from extremely high blood pressure, to Jinan Men's Prison in Shandong Province for the third time on February 21.
