(Minghui.org) Vegetables that look perfect in the market are the ones that are grown with lots of pesticides. So, in the past I would always look for green beans with holes in them from insects. These are the ones that have probably not been treated with pesticides. Nowadays they are difficult to find, for more farmers are using pesticides to yield a bigger harvest and make more money. Everyone still has to eat, so over time, people have become used to the vegetables grown this way.
My relatives who grow vegetables told me: "Never buy the first cut chives." Even farmers said, "Dichlorvos is extremely strong, it not only kills all the insects, but also makes chives grow very big." But after my relatives warned me, I was not able to tell which chives were the first cut, and I wondered if the later cuts were really safe either. It seems the only way one can avoid poisons on the vegetables is to not eat any of them!
There are still some farmers out there with a conscience, who are not just interested in making money at any cost. There have been a few examples noted on the Minghui website. Let's take a look at them:
On April 21, 2013, Mr. Li Shi from Heilongjiang Province wrote an article entitled "Little Radishes Not Fertilized with Chemicals, People All Willing to Buy." He wrote, "When animal manure is composted and then applied wet to the plants, it is easy for the plants to absorb. The radishes will then be ripe in just 50 days. On September 13, when I went to the market to sell them, they were about 2 inches in width, and 4 inches in length. On the shelf, they attracted the attention of everyone passing by. They were all surprised when I explained to them how they were grown without dangerous pesticides. I told them to try them, for those grown with pesticides will be bitter, but mine were sweet. Slowly people began to buy and eat them. I was told they taste delicious, like fruit! Later in the season I began to sell Chinese cabbage as well, and they sold out quickly also.”
How come he didn't use chemicals like everyone else? If he were to do that, it would have saved him a lot of effort and given him a high yield. He said, "I practice Falun Gong. Teacher taught us that when we run into things, we need to consider others first, and follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. As practitioners, when we grow vegetables using chemicals, it is not healthy for our customers. Teacher asked us to be good people, better people. Therefore, we should not lose our virtue for the sake of making more money."
On April 20, there was another report on Minghui.org titled, "Senior from Sichuan Province Arrested, His Family Members Held as Well." The article states that Mr. Zou Yunzhu and Ms. Li Shuyin, a married couple who live in Yueliangpo Village, Lushi Township, Huaying City, are farmers whose grown children left town for other work. They are very busy in the field every day, often working until midnight. By 4 a.m. in the morning they are already at the market to sell their vegetables. This couple has been holding themselves to the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They grow and sell their vegetables with their conscience. They also manage to endure being taken advantage of by others, for they practice forbearance. They never argue with others. They treat everyone with kindness and sincerity. Therefore, their vegetables sell easily.
Nowadays, Chinese people cheat each other, and there is no trust among them. When people buy vegetables, they bargain, they want to spend the least possible amount, and even after that will spend time picking out what they think are the very best vegetables there. Those who practice Falun Gong, not only trade fairly, but also practice forbearance. When they are taken advantage of, they not only do not care about it, but they continue to treat their customers kindly. That is why this couple has gained the respect from the many people who know them.”
Then what's the relationship among farmers? Another article posted on Minghui gave a very good explanation. It is entitled, "Ms. Zhang Minfang from Jianping County, Liaoning Province Arrested and Held in a Detention Center." Ms. Zhang Minfang, from Wanshou Township, Jianping County, Chaoyang City, is a Falun Dafa practitioner. On April 7, she was arrested. One of her neighbors said, "It makes no sense to hold such a good person in a detention center. Once, when I had no time to sell my vegetables, I asked her to do it for me. In order to sell mine, she was not able to sell hers until the next day. She also gave me all the profits from selling my vegetables. I trust her completely. There is a lot of competition among people in the same trade, but Ms. Zhang thought of others first. She is a wonderful person."
The articles on Minghui about Falun Dafa practitioners who are farmers are very moving. People know they can trust that the vegetables grown by them will be safe to eat. They would rather sell vegetables that are safe for people, than make more money.
We all know that today the Chinese people are living in an environment where there are poisonous things everywhere, which makes life all the more difficult. The CCP (Chinese Communist Party) has caused the morality of Chinese society to be very low. It is considered normal now for people to cheat each other. It is a good thing to see such people – Falun Dafa practitioners. They are the true hope of the Chinese nation. However, the CCP persecutes these kind people. The CCP exists solely for the destruction of the Chinese nation!
