(Minghui.org) I started working for a conglomerate in China through networking in the early summer of 2011. It is the most successful corporation in our region. The owner is young, but he is already a billionaire. He owns many different companies and properties all over China. He is very successful by all standards.
My friends at the company told me the story of the owner's success. He used to work for a salary before he started his own business with several business partners. The persecution of Falun Gong in China reached its peak in 2001 when hundreds and thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were fired from their jobs in both public and private sectors. They were imprisoned, tortured and even killed when they persevered in their faith in Falun Gong despite China's Constitution, which warrants its citizens the freedom of spiritual belief.
Because his grandmother and aunts practice Falun Gong, the owner knew they were good and responsible people. He decided to recruit Falun Gong practitioners and hire them as employees. Some practitioners had just completed their prison terms and had no income. They fled to this region to avoid further harassment and persecution in their hometowns. He provided them a safe haven and a stable source of income. When his employees were arrested for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, handing out the truth-clarification materials, or hanging banners with important facts about Falun Gong, he would go to the police to have them released. His business began to take off after a few years. He acquired several companies and became a conglomerate that virtually monopolized the industry in the region.
He once told one of his aunts, “I have to hire two people to do the work of one Falun Gong practitioner.” It shows that he not only trusted Falun Gong practitioners, but recognized their excellent work ethic.
While he provided them with job opportunities, the practitioners helped his business prosper in return.
Quality control is one of the most critical departments of his raw material supply company, one of his business subsidiaries. He had the department staffed with mostly Falun Gong practitioners. The raw materials must be inspected and signed off by the quality control staff before they are purchased. The quality control department typically purchases raw materials totaling eight-digit figures in yuan each year. Once the raw materials are sold to our company, the foremen will pay their workers for the materials they have produced. It goes without saying it is crucial to the foremen to have their raw materials purchased at a good price. It also means the quality control staff can easily take advantage of their position to make lucrative side profits by taking bribes. It is alleged that regular quality control personnel can easily get an additional 8,000 to 10,000 yuan a month on the side and managers at the quality control department, five- to six-digit figures a month.
As a Falun Gong practitioner, I will not trade my integrity for money. I used to work with an older fellow practitioner as quality inspectors in the quality control department. We often told the foremen and their workers, “We will pay for what the raw materials are worth. We will be sure to follow our company's rules and guidelines. Please be assured that we will never underpay you.”
They did not believe us at first, but after a while they told me, “You really have been paying us fairly. We are so lucky to have you as our quality inspector.” It is only then I revealed to them that I am a man of integrity because I practice Falun Gong. I began to clarify the truth to them about Falun Gong and persuaded them to quit the Chinese Communist Party's affiliated student organizations they had joined in their youth. Many workers learned what Falun Gong is really about and quit the CCP student organizations they once swore allegiance to at school.
One day a foreman gave the older practitioner I worked with 3,000 yuan after he sold a batch of raw materials. When he handed over the bribe, the foreman told the practitioner, “Thank you for taking care of my people.” The practitioner politely refused the money. Another foreman gave the practitioner four boxes of fresh fruit before one Chinese New Year, but he refused that as well. The foreman misunderstood him and tried to give him 300 yuan instead the next day, but the practitioner politely declined again.
It is important for a Falun Gong practitioner to let go of the temptation of money, but it is also important to always treat people with kindness even in difficult situations at work. People will always try to sell second-grade materials for the price of first-grade ones or at least for a better price than they deserve. It is important for me as a quality control employee to be tactical in negotiating the prices to avoid undesirable outcomes without compromising my integrity.
When I see flaws in the raw materials, I will price them reasonably based on the quality. Normally the workers will not argue because they know the quality of the raw materials. Naturally, there are always people that will make a fuss. Nevertheless, I always reason with them in a kind, friendly manner. However they speak to me, I will respond with a friendly smile. After a few transactions, they always end up feeling embarrassed of their bad behavior and apologize to me repeatedly.
The practitioners who work as quality inspectors will tell the foremen and their workers when they strike a deal, “We all want to make a living. There is nothing wrong with wanting more money, but this is the price I think is reasonable for this batch of materials. It is my boss that pays, not me, so I have no motivation to pay you less. I hope that everyone will understand where I am coming from.”
The workers said they found Falun Gong practitioners to be very honest and down to earth, so they enjoy chatting with us. We take the opportunities to clarify the truth about Falun Gong to them. Each time we travel to different work areas for quality inspection, we carry with us a bag of Falun Gong truth-clarification materials and amulets. We display them at a desk and they are taken right away. After we finish the quality inspection, we are often surrounded by workers who are eager to share good things that have happened to them after they learned the truth about Falun Gong. Some want to know more about the practice after they have read or watched the materials we gave them. They told us they will no longer believe anything in the Chinese Communist regime's hate propaganda against Falun Gong.
All the Falun Gong practitioners at the quality control department have been working tirelessly to clarify the truth once they finish the job they are paid to do. Therefore, the workers here know that Falun Gong is good and is suffering from unjust suppression. I think that is why the workers here have not had any significant work accidents or injuries in the past few years since the owner started hiring Falun Gong practitioners.
The owner does not practice Falun Gong, but he trusts Falun Gong practitioners will do their jobs well and will not steal from him.
That we are able to remain honest and uncorrupted in the face of daily temptations speaks highly of Falun Gong's teachings. This is why Falun Gong was able to attract 100 million practitioners in China within seven years. The Chinese Communist regime resolved to wipe out Falun Gong in 1999, but the practice is still embraced in over 100 countries around the world. Even though China continues to be haunted by the suppression of Falun Gong, more and more Chinese people have learned that the hate propaganda is completely false and that Falun Gong is a good cultivation practice.
