(Minghui.org) The Chinese Communist Party legal justice system, although rotten to the core, tries to portray itself as fair and impartial. The Ganjingzi District Court in Dalian City tried Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yan Jinhua on May 24, 2013. Her plight clearly demonstrates the shameless behavior of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) courts.
Ms. Yan Jinhua is a resident of the Quanshui District in Dalian. She was arrested by officers from Quanshui Police Station on the afternoon of July 12, 2012. That same day, she fell from the top floor of the station, injuring her leg. Her arrest was approved by the Ganjingzi District Procuratorate between late August and early September 2012.
The trial was monitored by the Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the 610 Office, and was carried out with the cooperation of the police station, the Procuratorate, and the court. The law was breached every step of the way.
Meeting with Attorney Monitored
On May 23, the day before the trial, the Dalian Ganjingzi District Procuratorate tried to prevent the attorney from meeting with his client. He was finally allowed to see Ms. Yan Jinhua in the afternoon, but two police officers monitored them. Ms. Yan was not aware that the trial would take place the following day.
The meeting was extremely short. Before the attorney finished reading the letter written to Ms. Yan by her family, the police escorted him out of the room.
"Approved" Observers Left No Room for Family and Friends
On the day of the trial, plainclothes officers filled the entrance to the courthouse. They videotaped the visitors. Police cars filled with officers lined the back of the courthouse. Only four seats in the courtroom were allotted to Ms. Yan's family. All the other seats were filled by plainclothes officers. The court announced to Ms. Yan's family that all the seats were filled by the family already and made the other family members wait outside.
Her other family members and friends were not allowed to enter the courtroom.
Irregular Proceedings
Throughout the trial, the judge was clearly biased in favor of the prosecutor. The judge constantly interrupted the attorney and the family to prevent them from defending Ms. Yan. Whenever the attorney or a family member began to speak, the judge stopped them.
When the family pointed out that the police had pressured Ms. Yan Jinhua to commit perjury, causing her to jump from from the building and get injured, the prosecutor interrupted and claimed that it was irrelevant to the case.
When the attorney defended Ms. Yan, the plainclothes officers who were pretending to be observers stirred up trouble, and the attorney was not able to continue.
The trial lasted only an hour.
Falsified Record
The court clerk blatantly changed the trial record. The record claimed that the court sentenced Ms. Yan Jinhua to three to five years in prison, and that the family agreed. The family found out and asked, "We defended Ms. Yan as not guilty. Why did you record it as 'guilty with prison term?'” The clerk was not embarrassed at all and was even impatient. Finally, when they realized that it was impossible to fool the family, they corrected the record.
