(Minghui.org) Li Jing, a female judge on the Yuwangtai District Court in Kaifeng City, staged a "high efficiency" court case: The person on trial had just been arrested, the judge was the only one who talked during the course of the trial, and the gallery was empty. No lawyers were notified. Li Jing sentenced Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yuxiu to three and a half years in prison.
Mr. Wang was arrested by police officers from the Fanta Police Station and Kaifeng City Domestic Security Division because he had shared his personal insights about Falun Gong on the internet. He was later indicted by the Yuwangtai District Procuratorate.
Mr. Wang hired two layers to plead not guilty on his behalf and also to handle bail formalities. The lawyers submitted the relevant credentials and paperwork to the Yuwangtai District Court. The next step was to wait for a court hearing notice.
When Mr. Wang was taking his daughter to school the morning of July 2, 2013, he was seized by five or six unidentified persons and shoved into a car without any official markings. Later, it was found that these people were police officers from Tubaigang Police Station, Fanta Police Station, Kaifeng City Domestic Security Division and Yuwangxiang District Court.
They took Mr. Wang to an office of the Wangtun Township government in the suburbs of Kaifeng City. Two persons held Mr. Wang while Li Jing, the judge from Yuwangtai District Court in Kaifeng City, took out a piece of paper and read it. Then she claimed that the trial was over.
In the afternoon, Mr. Wang's family was notified of Mr. Wang's arrest. His family members rushed to Yuwangtai District Court and learned that the trial was over already and that Mr. Wang had been detained in Kaifeng City Detention Center.
On July 8, Mr. Wang's family and two lawyers went to the detention center requesting to visit Mr. Wang. The staff claimed that they needed to get approval from the Domestic Security Division. The lawyers insisted on seeing Mr. Wang as allowed by law. After further negotiations, the lawyers finally met Mr. Wang the next day. They learned that as of July 5, Mr. Wang had been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
Facing such outrageous illegal acts that make no sense to a rational person, the two lawyers went to Yuwangtai District Court to question Li Jing, who is in charge of this case. The staff said several times that Li Jing was not in. However, they instructed two police officers to follow the lawyers closely. The lawyers insisted on meeting Li Jing. Finally Li Jing had to meet them. Li Jing kept silent when the lawyers asked why she had not given notice of the trial. Then she made an excuse and left.
At present, Mr. Wang has already appealed and has been on a hunger strike to protest the sentence.
