(Minghui.org) On July 20, 2013, Falun Gong practitioners in Melbourne, Australia, held a rally and a march, calling for an end to the 14-year persecution of Falun Gong in China. Despite a heavy rain that day, many people attended the rally and expressed their support for Falun Gong.
Practitioners march in the rain to call for an end to the 14-year persecution in China
Amy Williams and her husband Adam were touched by practitioners' spirit. Adam said that the march was really meaningful, because it let more people know what the Chinese Communist Party has done. Amy said, “We know about the persecution. Although the Chinese government is influential in the world economy, it still cares about its image in Western society. If more people know about the persecution, and if we exert more pressure on the communist party, letting them know that we don't like its tyrannical power, we can push the communist party to change. If the communist party respects universal values, it will gain more respect,” Amy said. She added, “Freedom of belief is necessary. This [Buddha School practice] is so peaceful and beautiful.”
A Chinese tourist admired practitioners' spirit. “I often break through the [Chinese] government's Internet blockade, so I know about many things that the government doesn't want us to know. Today I want to hear what Falun Gong practitioners have to say, and I want to know more about Falun Gong. You're here trying to tell us the truth despite the pouring rain. It is really moving,” he said.
