(Minghui.org) Wenxi County is a small county with a population of only 300,000. Falun Gong practitioners have been arrested, sentenced to forced labor camps and prisons, and had their homes ransacked during the 14 years of Falun Gong's persecution. The following is a partial list of practitioners persecuted in Wenxi County.
Husband Sentenced to Ten Years in Prison--His Wife Tortured to Death
Mr. Cheng Long was arrested while he was distributing truth-clarifying materials around April 2008. After his release, police officers came to his home to harass him, and he was forced to leave home. The officers then ransacked the home. At that time, Zhao Yujun, chief of the 610 Office of Wenxi County, and Du Zhonghe, director of the Domestic Security Division, saw Dafa books on a desk at his home and arrested Mr. Cheng's wife, Ms. Xiaolan, who was later sentenced to one year of forced labor.
Ms. Xiaolan was tortured during the initial three months she was held, and her eyes looked lifeless. Shortly after she was released when her term expired, she died of unknown causes, and her children were left without parents.
Mr. Cheng was again arrested when he was distributing fliers in April 2001, and was held at the Yanhu District Detention Center, in Yuncheng. He was later sentenced to a ten-year prison term. Since his family has not been allowed to visit him, his current situation is unknown.
Mother Sentenced to Prison and Her Daughter's Business Closed
Ms. Zhai Yuexian, who is in her seventies and a resident of Taoyuan Village, Wenxi County, moved with her family to the city. After she started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997, she lived according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and was a very diligent practitioner. She provided a place to read the Falun Gong books and do the exercises during the winter.
Ms. Zhai was targeted after the Chinese Communist regime started persecuting Falun Gong on July 20 1999. When she was arrested in 2000, Zhang Baoguo, chief of the 610 Office, along with a group of police officers, ransacked her home and searched her closets, beds, and desks. She was later released after her son had a large amount of money extorted from him.
Wang Longyan, Zhou Mingbo, and other police officers ransacked her home on March 14, 2011. She was arrested because they found Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs and Dafa amulets. Her family hired an attorney when they heard that she was to be tried. However, the attorney was threatened not to represent her in court.
Without notifying her family, Ms. Zhai was secretly sentenced to a three-year prison term. She is now being held at the Yuci District Women's Prison, far away from where her sons and daughter live. Her family is very worried about her health.
Ms. Qiu Fenghua, 47, the daughter of Ms. Zhai, had her home and store ransacked on April 19, 2011, after her mother was arrested. The police confiscated her computer at home and at her store. As a result, her store had to close for almost a year. She was arrested because she had a couplet that read, "Heavens Endow Good Fortune," and a Shen Yun Performing Arts DVD. She was held for a month without any evidence, and her residence was monitored for almost six months. During this time, her son and daughter, who were not grown yet, were forced to live with a relative for a month.
A Child Has Not Been Able to Live with Her Parents
Ms. Xiaoyun, in her forties, was married to a practitioner in Linfen City who previously lived in Wenxi County. She started practicing Falun Dafa when she was studying at Linfen City Teacher's University. At that time, many people practiced Falun Dafa. Ms. Xiaoyun and her husband were classmates and fellow practitioners.
Her husband was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2005 because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She was fired from her job because of her faith, and continually harassed. She had to leave her child with her grandparents and leave home. She suffered the sadness of not living with her child for many years. Her child is now 13 years old but has not lived with her parents for a single day. She was arrested again in Taigu in late 2010 and is being held in Yuxi Women's Prison.
Many Practitioners Arrested and Fined--Some Missing
Ms. Li Cai'e, in her seventies, had a vascular tumor and started practicing qigong looking for a cure. She was practicing Falun Dafa in the spring of 1997, when a practitioner brought her a DVD of Master's lectures. She was arrested in April 2000, detained for over a month, and had 2,000 yuan extorted from her.
Ms. Zhu Xiufang, in her seventies, started practicing Falun Dafa in 1997 because she heard it could help relieve her heart disease, and she benefited both physically and spiritually. Her home was ransacked in April 2000, and she was arrested. She was held for over a month and was fined 2,000 yuan.
A practitioner whose name is unknown runs a store selling luggage. His store was ransacked in March 2011, and he was sentenced to one year in prison.
There are other practitioners whose whereabouts are unknown. One practitioner was arrested and held in 1999 when she appealed for Falun Gong, and her whereabouts are unknown. Her husband was also affected and died of an unknown cause. Their son, who was 15 years old, lost both his parents.
