(Minghui.org) Two siblings were arrested because of their belief in following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the teachings of Falun Gong. Their mother, who has been mentally ill, has no one to care for her and constantly calls for her son and daughter.
Son Arrested and Beaten, Home Ransacked, Wife Forced to Leave Home
Mr. Peng Shigui was arrested late at night on September 6, 2013, by police officers who broke into his home. He is now in the Baiheling Detention Center in the Shapingba District of Chongqing. His wife, Yao Hong, does not dare to return home because the police constantly harassed her.
Mr. Peng, 49, used to work for the Chongqing Casting Machinery Factory. He lost his job when the factory went bankrupt. More than 10 officers from the Shapingba District Police Department and the Jingkou Police Station broke into his home at 11:30 p.m. on September 6, 2013.
With the excuse of having to check his residential registration, they ransacked the home, stole a desktop and laptop computer, three printers, and about 5,000 copies of informational materials about Falun Gong and the persecution. These items filled two police cars. Mr. Peng tried to escape when he was taken out of the building, but the police caught and brutally beat him.
Family Notified of Arrest, Wife Harassed, and ID Erased from Bank Computer
Mr. Peng's family received notification on October 15, 2013, from the Shapingba District Police Department that his arrest was approved. In the middle of December, five to six officers from the Jingkou Police Station went to his home and forced his wife to leave with them to have her picture taken. She firmly resisted because her husband's mother, who is mentally ill, needed her. Instead, she was allowed to submit a picture of herself. Later, when Ms. Yao went to the bank to apply for her payroll card, the bank could not find her ID and picture in the computer. The bank employees told her that the police were responsible.
Daughter Arrested, Sentenced to Forced Labor, Appeal Denied
Ms. Peng Shibi was arrested on January 26, 2013, and sentenced to three years of forced labor.
Ms. Peng, 62, is the older sister of Mr. Peng Shigui. She used to be a kindergarten teacher at the Chongqing Casting Machinery Factory. At around 7 a.m. on January 26, 2013, Ms. Peng was reported to the police when she spoke to people about Falun Gong at Gele Mountain in the Shapingba District. She was arrested and taken to the Gele Mountain Police Station. Her home was ransacked and she was detained at the Baiheling Detention Center in the Shapingba District.
She was sentenced to three years of forced labor on July 17, 2013. Ms. Peng appealed, but the court denied it. She was then taken to the Chongqing Women's Prison in the Jiulongpo District of Chongqing
Mr. Peng Shibi's younger sister visited her in prison first, and then went to the Jingkou Police Station and inquired why they wanted a picture of Ms. Yao Hong. The director of the police station told her that they regarded Mr. Peng as a leader of Falun Gong practitioners, therefore, they submitted his wife's picture to the Shapingba District Police Department.
It is likely the police are collecting information to further persecute Mr. Peng Shigui.
Ms. Yao had to leave home to avoid the constant harassment by the Jingkou police. The elderly, sick mother is miserable because she has no one to care for her, and she constantly cries for her son and daughter.
