(Minghui.org) As cultivators, we know that we must look within to identify our shortcomings. This is part of our cultivation process. But, are we truly able to look within? Over the past year, I noticed several phenomena of looking within insincerely. I want to share this with fellow practitioners, with the hope that it will help us all.
1. Carrying the phrase "look within" on one's lips. Whenever one shared experience, he or she would say this phrase first but then only discuss others' actions. Thus, his or her own action was actually looking outside, using the words “look within” only as a mantra.
2. Using “I did not cultivate well” as an excuse for not truly looking within. This is one's umbrella to protect attachments. It can become a roadblock to truly cultivating and elevating.
3. Looking within only superficially. This phenomenon shows that one's determination in cultivation is not solid. If one is able to learn the true meaning of cultivation, cherish the opportunity to cultivate and understand the difficulties that Master has endured in order to save us, then I believe one's cultivation state would be different and this phenomenon would not exist.
Master told us:
“For a cultivator, looking within is a magical tool.” (“Fa Teaching at the 2009 Washington DC International Fa Conference”)
Let us truly look within and solidly cultivate ourselves!
