(Minghui.org) Ms. Jia Yanru was sentenced to four years in prison by the Shijingshan Court in Beijing on October 9, 2013. She appealed her case to a higher court and the trial will soon be held. Ms. Jia is being held at the Shijingshan Detention Center in Beijing.
Officers from the Shijingshan Police Station arrested Ms. Jia in Beijing on May 6, 2013, while she was distributing truth clarification materials. This was the fourth time she had been arrested.
She was arrested for the first time in 2001 and sentenced to prison. She was held at the Beijing Women's Prison for four years where she was beaten and deprived of sleep for long periods of time. After she was released in 2005, she was still harassed by the local police.
A second arrest took place when the local police ransacked Ms. Jia's home in April 2006 and confiscated five Dafa books. She was sentenced to two and a half years in the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Jia was arrested for the third time during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. She was deprived of taking a shower for two months and was forced to sit on a small stool in a room without heat during the winter.
Ms. Jia Yanru, 56, lives in the Maliandao area of the Xuanwu District in Beijing. She used to be employed as a senior technician for the Beijing Iron and Steel Design Institute.
