(Minghui.org) A woman in Foshan City was sentenced to 7 years in prison for distributing information on the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Ms. He Weifei was seized at around 5 p.m. on December 7, 2015, when she returned home with her husband, who had just been discharged from the hospital after one week’s treatment for a health condition.
The local police staked out near Ms. He’s apartment building after ransacking her home only hours earlier. They found her daughter and forced her to open the door to her mother’s place. They confiscated a large amount of cash, Falun Gong books, computers, printers, and other personal belongings.
Ms. He’s family suspected that her latest arrest was a result of her earlier arrest on October 13, 2015, when she was seized for passing out Falun Gong materials. Though she was released on the same day, the police never loosened their grip on her.
Ms. He was issued an arrest warrant in late January 2016 and indicted two months later. She appeared in court on May 26, 2016, and her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her.
The Nanhai District Court convicted Ms. He on May 10, 2017, and ordered her to serve time at Guangdong Province Women’s Prison, where she remains today.
