(Minghui.org) The police in Panzhihua City withheld the pension of a 70-year-old retired police officer for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline currently persecuted in China. The police also evicted him from his rental apartment.
Mr. Fu Wende is retired from the Dongqu Police Department. He began to practice Falun Gong in 2014, and many of his ailments disappeared. In October 2016 the police in Huaping County, Yunnan Province, arrested Mr. Fu after he was seen putting up posters about Falun Gong.
The Huaping County police submitted Mr. Fu’s case to the local procuratorate in July 2017. His case was returned to the police in September for lack of evidence and further investigation. He was released on bail pending trial.
Mr. Fu submitted a defense statement and an affidavit of non-prosecution to the police and the procuratorate. He believes that he was accused based on trumped-up charges and no evidence.
When Mr. Fu went home to Panzhihua, the police harassed him constantly, trying to get him to give up his faith. His former employer withheld his pension in May 2017, leaving him with only 22 yuan (US$3) instead of 5,000 yuan per month.
The local police in Renhequ ordered Mr. Fu to leave the district. They broke into his home, took photos, and interrogated him. They later threatened his landlord, pressuring him to break his rental contract with Mr. Fu and to order him and his son to move out.
