(Minghui.org) A 46-year-old teacher in Shenyang City was recently sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for writing a letter to police and urging them to stop participating in the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Ms. Han Qing credits Falun Gong for returning her to health and enabling her to conceive a child. As such, she never shied away from telling people that Falun Gong was nothing like what was depicted by the state propaganda.
Police arrested Ms. Han on November 3, 2016 upon receiving a tip that she distributed calendars bearing Falun Gong information. They released her on bail on December 9.
Ms. Han wrote a letter to local police in early April 2017. She shared her personal experience with Falun Gong and urged the police to stop persecuting Falun Gong. She followed up by calling Zhao Wei (vice head of the local Domestic Security Office) and also requested the return of items confiscated from her home (including her computer, textbooks, and lesson plans) during the November arrest.
Zhao asked her to see him at the local police department. Ms. Han went on April 5, only to be dragged into the interrogation room the moment she arrived.
Zhao said they must take her back into custody because she wrote that letter to them, per the order from his boss, Li Wei, head of the local Domestic Security Office.
It was learned in early November that Ms. Han has been sentenced to 3.5 years by Liaozhong District Court. She is now appealing her case.
