(Minghui.org) A Pucheng County resident was sentenced to 2 years in prison for publicizing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Yin Shengmei was arrested on October 28, 2016, after being reported for telling a young woman to remember Falun Gong is good. The police body searched her and confiscated her Falun Gong books and materials, MP3 player, flash drive, and other valuables. They raided her home four days later.
Ms. Yin was placed under house arrest after being kept at Wuyishan Detention Center for seven days.
The local procuratorate sent people to talk to her, and she kept telling them she broke no law by practicing and spreading information about Falun Gong. She urged them to stand up for justice.
One official admitted, “If we don’t send you to jail, we’ll go to jail. We’re just carrying out orders.”
Ms. Yin was tried on January 9, 2017, and taken back into custody on May 16. The police had intended to send her straight to the local detention center but had to bring her back home after she showed signs of high blood pressure.
The Pucheng County Court announced a verdict against her the very next day, sentencing her to 2 years in prison and ordering her to have another medical evaluation.
