(Minghui.org) A woman in Ruian City was arrested at home on May 18, 2017, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. The police have refused to disclose where Ms. Wang Liyun is being held. Her family is calling for assistance from the public to seek her release.
Ms. Wang’s latest arrest follows a prior arrest on January 9, 2014, also for her faith. Back then, she was released on bail after about two months of detention.
The Ruian City Court summoned Ms. Wang to have a talk on April 16, 2015. She explained to judge Meng that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong and that she should never have been prosecuted for exercising her constitutional right to freedom of belief.
Judge Meng handcuffed her and revoked her bail. Ms. Wang managed to escape and had to live away from home to avoid arrest.
About half a year later, the local police asked Ms. Wang’s family to try to persuade her to return home, and said that they would not go after her again.
Ms. Wang returned home, only to be arrested again this May.
