(Minghui.org) The prosecutor in the case against a Falun Gong practitioner played a surveillance video to try to support her allegation against the defendant, only to see her lies debunked.
Mr. Chen Yinru, a veteran in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, was arrested on August 18, 2016 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
During Mr. Chen’s trial on May 26, 2017, prosecutor Su Yunzhu played a video clip showing the backside view of two men riding bikes at different times. Su claimed that the two men were the same person, Mr. Chen, passing out Falun Gong materials. The video, however, did not have any front view of the person, nor did it show any Falun Gong materials being distributed.
Mr. Chen’s lawyer refuted the allegation, saying, “I’ve known my client for more than six years. I can say with certainty that the two men were not him.” Mr. Chen also denied he was in the video clip and pointed out that his bike was of a different brand than the bikes shown in the video.
The lawyer further argued that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong and that his client should never have been prosecuted for exercising his constitutional right to freedom of belief. He demanded Mr. Chen’s acquittal.
The judge adjourned the session without issuing a verdict.
